Hi ladies,

I'm new to this forum and I wondered if I could get an opinion on a bag I purchased the other day. I've seen plenty of black patchwork but never in this style and when I called the local Coach store they told me it must be fake because none of their style numbers start with 4.... So, the question is, have any of you seen this bag in this style and does this look authentic?

Item: Black Coach Holiday Patchwork Purse
Listing #:230549738448
Seller: chefnate74
Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...nijRdZg%3D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWNX:IT

These 2 also, I didn't see any C's stamped in the leather on the back of the first one. Is that unusual? I'm not sure how the C's are supposed to line up on the second but I love it and have been looking for this style...

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Like Been Burned said, don't expect all Coach employees to know diddly-squat about their own product. They're probably the worst people to ask most of the time.

The black Patchwork is a Pouch, not a purse, notice the measurements. It's only about 8.5 by 5 inches. And since about 2007, ALL Pouch style numbers begin with a "4", and so do wallets, Swing Packs, wristlets, cosmetic cases, Mini Skinnies and almost all small accessories (because of their size Pouches are considered Accessories, not handbags). It's amazing that the person you asked didn't know even that.

I'd say it's probably from 2008 or 2009, style # 42005 and it's called a Patchwork Top Handle Pouch:

I haven't seen it before but that doesn't mean much, it might have been on a piece of jewelry or a lanyard that's not in my files. But two or three details make me think that it's questionable - for one it doesn't look like the Coach logo is in the center of the bottom of the boot but the way the light is hitting it makes it hard to get an idea of exactly where it's stamped. Coach would place the stamp in the center and not along one of the edges.

There's one other detail that's a bit "iffy" and one that definitely wasn't done by Coach. I'm not 100 percent sure, but I have a strong feeling it's not genuine. Is it yours, and where did you find it?
This was the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...U2XGdFQ%3D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWNX:IT

The logo on the bottom looks mostly centered to me. It seems to be a left shoe (based on shape and zipper detailing in the 'inside facing' part of the shoe), so the bottom is not completely symmetrical, but the logo is down the middle. Sorry, my camera seems to be taking progressively worse pictures. I just took a new set with no flash and better lighting:

If I can take pictures of different angles to help with authentication, please let me know. Also feel free to PM me if you don't want to discuss it on the thread.

Thanks!

It might be ok. Coach did make wallets - but not bags - in Spain and that one is from the right period, around 2003 or maybe a bit newer if it was an outlet item. The embossed leather items from that year show the same details as this one including the white or off-white stitching.

There really aren't enough details to say for sure since it's a pretty basic design but I think it's ok although my catalogs don't show Brown being available, just shades of red along with Mahogany, but if they made it for the outlets they may have expanded the color choices. But I think it's ok.
Thanks Hyacinth, I missed out on the wallet by 1 sec. I have a second one in mind. The seller listed it as Brand new and not meaning never been used, brand new as in just purchased. Thanks again!

Thanks to all of you for getting back to me so quickly! I had a suspicion the sales person I spoke with was less than knowledgable but I truly appreciate the confirmation and details. (I obviously have a lot to learn myself!)

I've never seen/heard of this bag before until looking it up. It's currently in rehap (cleaning, had the straps repaired)

So the Goodwill I go to is always selling these terrible fakes for $50 and then today i found this great bag in the purse bin for $3.00 so of course I bought it. It needs some work on the outside but is in decent shape with very soft leather on the outside. From what I can tell is looks real. The creed reads correctly but of course I am not sure so I am posting here. It would be ironic if the one real one they had they put in the bin.

Let me know if you need more pictures.
Thank you! :D
