Based on the serial number, I do not believe that listing is authentic. 2313 does not sound like a style number for a handbag.

Please wait for other confirmation.

In order to post a link, highlight the URL address (with http:// ) at the top of every page. Copy the URL and paste it into your post.

One crappy photo and no information, and a brand-new seller. That alone would make me hit the Back button.

There's not really enough solid proof to report it as fake but those thin cheap straps don't belong on a genuine Coach. It's not a good idea to report something based just on what the seller says is the serial number since a lot of sellers mis-read or mis-type the number. But there's no way anyone should feel comfortable buying that bag.

Welcome to tPF and I'm glad you came here before buying and possibly making a mistake.

The bag appears to be okay but I think the seller may have misread the prefix of the serial number. It appears to be B050 which means the bag would have been made in February of 2005.

I don't have a picture of style 8K87 so I don't know whether that's a valid style.

Please wait for other opinions.

In answer to your question about losing out on a bag because of a question here, I'm sure it sometimes happens. But it's still a better idea to ask questions first because it's easier to avoid a bad listing or a bad seller than it is to win it and try to fight for a refund after the fact.

There are very few styles that are so rare that even if you miss out on one, another will come along. Don't be impulsive.

The style number looks like 8K37 which is a Metallic Sig Hobo With Snake and seems to match the pic. I don't see any red flags.

Like I said in my previous post - never trust that a seller has read or posted the serial number correctly.

Hi all, just found a Coach Messenger bag that my sister received for a gift perhaps 10 years ago. I'm having a difficult time finding out the official name or style number for this bag. Not sure if this is the correct thread for this post, please let me know if it's not.

Color: Black leather w/ brown leather trim
Style: Messenger w/ black canvas strap
Year: 1995 - 2004? Sorry for the broad range
Serial No: M2S-5744

Thanks in advance for any help :smile1: Pics:

Please post a clear readable pic of the leather creed patch from inside the bag. It also is a big help when you put the serial number in your post. Thanks!

Sorry, shows how much I know :p

Image below, Serial No. is M2S-5744. Looking for the original name or style #.

Thanks!

The style number and year of manufacture are right in the serial number, that's one of the reasons why we ask for a photo of the creed.

Yours was made in 2002 and is from the Flatiron line (I think!), it's probably one of the Flatiron Messengers but I don't know what size Coach would have considered it. I don't have this particular number in my files but #5777 in the clickable picture below was either its big or little brother:

Edited to add - it might even be from very similar Transatlantic line but it's really hard to find information on the Business and Travel items. Wish I could be more precise.

Hi i purchased this purse sometime back..but doubts are creeping up about the authenticity. All the bags i have seen for this model have beige inlaid fabric and the piping of the side pocket are green/sage in color. My bag has peach inlaid fabric and has beige piping on the pockets. Thanks!!!

I don't see any problems with it either.
