The seller's description isn't strictly accurate. It's not a "Cashin-era" bag although she may have designed something similar. This particular one was made in 1997 which is more than 20 years after Cashin had left Coach. It's called a Geometric Bag and the style number is 9043. If you keep a Search on file at Ebay for those two terms, you should find another one eventually.

So I was browsing Coach bags on eBay and stumbled upon the exact same purse I own. To my surprise, the serial number on this bag did not match the one on mine. Seeing as I didn't purchase the purse myself (it was a gift), I'm a little worried. Do I own a fake or is the add on eBay for a fake? Please help :(

Thanks once again Hyacinth! Gosh you really know your stuff!!!

Something was telling me it wasn't a Cashin-era bag. My extensive Ebay Coach perusing has shown me that quite a few sellers simply want to slap the Cashin label on older Coach purses, hoping that it will make them sell better. It's really sad that sellers feel they have to be deceptive like that, either out of ignorance or greed.

I agree. I won't buy from a seller who calls every bag more than 4 years old either "vintage" or "Cashin". And I think most of them know perfectly well that Bonnie Cashin had nothing at all to do with the bags they're selling.

Even if 2 bags are genuine, as long as they were made after 1993 they won't necessarily have the same serial number unless they were made in the same plant and in the same month and year.

As for your bag, if you want to know if it's genuine you need to post photos.

With the seller receiving 2 negatives on fake Coach sunglasses in the past, I'd pass even IF this was authentic... which I'm not sure it is. Wait for other opinions.
