There are no hard and fast "rules" about stampings, but sometimes the backs of some or all of the metal charms won't be stamped, and sometimes if there's a Coach logo or lozenge on one or more of the charms, Coach doesn't add a lozenge hangtag.
You can ONLY compare a Coach piece to another Coach piece of the same style, and even then Coach sometimes makes small changes (probably to save money!) between the beginning and end of production, or between the pieces made for the full-price vs. the Factory stores.
Thank you Hyacinth. Your comments makes me understand a little better. No wonder it is so easy for people to sell fakes since there is not really any "rules" that coach follows. It's nice that you all have pictures and knowledge to help us.

I saw an ebay listing for this purse just yesterday and fell in love with something about it...just so happens I was at my local thrift store this AM and found the SAME PURSE!!! It needs a lot of TLC, but I'm willing to give it a go, I just couldn't pass it up! If someone would be so kind to authenticate for me before I put tons of time and energy into this bag, I would be so appreciative 
Also, if anyone knows the name of this bag, I would love to know that too!

It's from 2002 and I think it's a "Legacy Crescent".
Wait for confirmation on that.
I do not recommend doing business with rhec1979.
rhec1979 's listings are full of red flags.
1. Some pictures are stolen from other sellers
2. Other pictures are stolen from Coach's website
3. Backgrounds are photoshopped to disguise that they are stolen
4. None of the listings have enough pictures to determine authenticity
5. Descriptions are lacking important details.
Sorry but that's a fake bag and you can't sell it.sorry i posted something earlier but messed up on posting the pictures.
The serial number is commonly seen on fakes and is for a completely different style bag.
Among many other problems including the invalid serial number, the C pattern is uncentered and misaligned and the lining is only seen on fakes.

I think it's probably okay but the creed picture should be legible and not at a funny angle.
