Please look at this Coach backpack. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

If link does not work it is ebay number 120569722574

I"m afraid I purchased this purse and I am almost certain now it is fake. However, I have been wrong before so I would appreciate hearing from you experts.

Here is the issue. The creed patch does not look right.

It says "Coach" and then "Leatherware" underneath. I own several Coaches and none of them have the word leatherware on the creed patch.

Also it has a suspicious serial number 90-518 and that's it. I can't find a match. This purse looks like a 6080. However this one does not have a leather bottom as the 6080 does; it just has the siggy fabric on the bottom. Could this be a different model? Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, you aren't wrong. I wish I could tell you that the bag is authentic but it's a bad fake. There's nothing right about it.

Tell the seller that you want a full refund and if she doesn't agree to it, you should file a dispute. You should also request a refund of the shipping costs you incurred since you wouldn't have paid them had you known the item was fake.

Thanks. I knew I was taking a gamble. The price was good but the person had no feedback. Hopefully paypal with give me the refund if the seller won't.
Approach the seller with the possibility that she didn't know it was fake and listing it was an "honest" mistake.

If she doesn't agree to a full refund, file a dispute requesting your money back and requesting to dispose of the bag to keep it out of circulation. If paypal agrees to that, you'll get a full refund and she'll be out the bag and the money.

(Be sure to escalate the dispute if the seller isn't resolving.)

I don't recognize the style of the black one, but there aren't any obvious red flags. More pictures might help, like straight-on shots of the front and back of the bag (stuff it with tissue or a towel so we can see the actual shape), and get a pic of the strap and buckle. The Forest Green one looks like a Kimball Zip from the early 90s.

The Korean one is definitely fake.

Thanks for the help! That's cool about the Kimbal Zip... Fun stuff.

Here are some more photos of the black one... it is actually a dark navy/dark blue. I took the photos outside for some natural light... but, well, noon is not the best time for photography, and I'm using my iPhone ;) So I hope you can see what you need. Let me know and I can find better light/angles.

This is really cool that you all are out here on the interwebs, willing to share what you know, and help people. I'm going to have to go out and do something to help someone else today. pay it forward style-e.

Comments: Is this authentic? Is it actually a key fob that the seller put on a chain and is calling a necklace? TIA

All that seller's "Coach" jewelry listings are so-called custom pieces made from disassembled keyrings and lanyards. It would help if she explained that clearly in her listings though.

They seem to be genuine, but in a lot of cases you can buy the entire keychain at the outlet or on Ebay for what she's charging for just one charm.

Thanks - and thanks for the extra pics!

If the measurements are about 9 inches wide by about 7 inches high, give or take an inch either way, and the leather is a bt thinner and softer than the regular "classic" leather, it's probably a Carlton Bag from the early 1990s Soho Lightweights line, the ancestors of the current Soho bags. The strap buckles have the rounded tops like other Sohos and the shape matches my catalog and collection photos. The actual style number was 4132 but since the serial number is all numeric it was made before 1994.

Hope that helps :smile1:

All appear to be fine but the seller's use of Coach's copyrighted stock photos in many listings, either as the gallery picture or within the descriptions is something that she shouldn't be doing.

Clearly, the seller has a camera and uses her own pictures. There is no need for a stock photo and to use them is infringing on Coach's copyright.

I dont understand what you mean by that

I have reason to believe the keychain pictured is fake. Keychain in question was taken from this thread: http://forum.purseblog.com/ebay-forum/question-hope-it-is-okay-i-ask-this-591280.html

Please authenticate - thanks!!!
I'm copying my response from the other post:

First, authentic multi-charm keychains retail for a minimum of $48 up to $98 -- and add the state sales tax to that cost.

In the past, the multi-charm pave key fobs were $39. Now they are $29. Even in the event of a $10 clearance (where quantities will be limited), there's no way a seller can afford to sell authentic keychains for $9!

Assuming a seller used a 20% coupon and paid the lowest $7.99 price (plus tax), ebay and paypal fees would add another (at least) 25% to that price, bringing the seller's cost to $10.

And the chances of the seller having purchased it for $8 are nil. If they were that cheap, ebay would be flooded with listings for the same style.

It's rare to find multi-charm keychains for $9.99. They are usually $29 and at that price, the seller would be eating an even bigger loss. (That is, if the item were authentic.)

Please do your research! Buyers have to use some common sense!

Please post a link to the listing in which you purchased this item.
