Hi all,
Girls...while I understand your skepticism, cuz there are some dishonest sellers out there, I AM NOT ONE. I am a Mom who earns a little by sharing my special finds at a Great price, that I don't keep for myself that is :). I only buy what I would want to keep & I am SUPER picky. I take all of my own pictures with my Son's camera, I do the best I can to acurately present the handbag or accessory. I only use a stock photo on rare occasion I have trouble with the camera. As soon as it's fixed, I replace with my own. I only left a recent stock photo of the Coach Madison Leather Flower Sophia, because I thought it better represented how GORGEOUS this bag is, than the SIX others I took.
For the record, out of the 56 pictures on my site...54 of them I took, with much time & effort. I NEVER use another seller's (these are from a major dept store's site). Just wanted to clear the air & my good reputation as a seller, that I've worked very hard for.
From your fellow Coach lover!

Using pictures that don't show the actual items you are selling is not only illegal (copyright infringement) but it's unethical and misleading to buyers.

When you show pictures that aren't your own, there's no way for a buyer to know what they're bidding on. With stock photos, you might be selling authentic or you might be selling fakes and for your own benefit, you ought to have your own pictures in the event of a dispute.

Should a buyer accuse you of sending a fake, how are you going to prove (by a listing that uses stock photos) that you sent an authentic bag. Many habitual counterfeit sellers use stolen photos taken either from honest sellers' listings, from designer websites or from department store websites.

Perhaps you're unaware that all pictures (and descriptions) on any website belong to the rights owner of those pictures and descriptions and just because you found them on the internet does not give you the right to use them in your own listings.

If you are a seller who was recommended against because you use stock photos, I recommend that you end your listings until such time that your camera is working properly.

I shall continue to recommend against sellers who don't show their own clear and definitive pictures of their items.

Ok...I'm still learning about all this. Thanks for letting me know about copyright issues. I understood it was totally not right to use another seller's or private person's photo, but didn't realize that about an advertisement type photo. I only had 3 out of 54 of ALL MY OWN...so considered them removed & lesson learned. Definitely don't want to do anything that reflects poorly on me as a person or seller. Thanks again!

I'm so sorry for all the trouble. :-s
It's no trouble at all. You were smart to ask questions.

And although few of us have ever read every rule of ebay and paypal policy, it's our responsibility as members to know what we are "agreeing" to at the bottom of the policies when we sign up.

We all are human and all make mistakes and hopefully, this seller will understand the reason why her own pictures are so important to building a good reputation.

Just so all you know...I've always used my own pictures, with only a few RARE exceptions. As a Coach lover & frequent buyer...I want to see & validate what I am buying beforehand as well. I appreciate the cautiousness of all involved & the information given. Have a good night!

I'm so very thankful, along with everyone else for you moderators that volunteer to help us. I know it's saved me a time or two. After messaging with the seller, I have no doubt that she was unaware of any wrongdoing. I'm convinced it wasn't intentional to try and mislead a potential buyer.
Thanks for your help once again!!! It's appreciated more than you gals know. :smile1:

The same issue was brought up recently at the Clothing & Accessories Board of Ebay's Discussion Forums, and the answers cover that topic pretty well and from several different perspectives:

I have a problem with tlb776's use of stolen copyrighted stock photos in this listing and others. Although some of the pictures look okay, the first 2 pictures are stolen from Coach's website. I don't know that the other pictures are actually the seller's own or whether they, too, were "borrowed" from elsewhere.

And in the previous (completed) listing for the same item, NONE of the pictures were the seller's own:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NWT-COACH-Madis...191?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item4aab89ab8f

This listing from the same seller also uses a stolen stock photo:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NWT-COACH-Madis...511?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item4aabc87707

Personally, I wouldn't buy from a seller who doesn't do her own work and show pictures of the actual items she's selling.

Like like like! You are awesome, I totally agree with you on this. I need to see the actual item, in order to give someone my hard earned money!

Please help me in authenticating this bag- I'm hoping to purchase it as a gift and the price seems quite good! Thank you in advance.

Item: NWT COACH MADISON GATHERED LEATHER LARGE SOPHIA #15947

Listing number: 330575716986

Seller: Mycoachstore

Link: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...16986&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1224wt_1138

Comments: This looks like a reputable seller (all but one negative comment)!

I would definitely ask for a closer picture of the creed without such a steep angle. Also a wide shot of the inside, the hardware especially the clasps, and the zipper. That's just me, if I can't smell and feel the bag, I want thorough pictures.

I think it looks okay as does the seller's history but other opinions are welcome. We've seen some very close fakes in this style.
