Comments: And I've attached a picture of the creed the seller sent me. I'm a little iffy because the seller hasn't really sold much and the spacing of the writing on the creed seems.. odd.

Thanks! :smile1:
The first bag from vintage_piddles is fake. Notice the misspelled "marxings" on the creed.

Were you the winning bidder? If so, let the seller know the bag is fake and that it cannot be sold.

I believe #2 is okay but wait for confirmation.

It looks like the "No" may have worn off, there was definitely something in that space in front of the number.

Older creeds are always going to have variations between years, styles and plants. I don't see anything to worry about.

Please search this thread and the "Answers to Authenticity Questions" for "YKK zipper" or read the last 10 or 15 pages of posts in the "Answers ..." thread to learn about zippers. And read my Signature below.

Thank you for your help! I feel so much better now. :smile1:

Comments: Would you know if this is the bonnie cashin era? Approx age? Thank you for your help authenticating.

The bag is authentic. As to the Cashin era question...the short answer is "I don't know".

The long answer is...To me the "Cashin era" would be the years when Cashin was actually designing and working for Coach. I don't believe a Coach bag with any sort of "creed" was made during that time.

That bag could have been "designed" by Cashin (and made after she left) but I'm not familiar with that particular early "style". My best GUESS...it was probably made in the later 1970's or whenever Coach started fooling around with various types of "creeds".

Understand that this is only my opinion and there are various "guides" out there that totally disagree.

The Cashin question can probably only be answered by the Cashin Foundation. They will authenticate Cashin designs for a reasonable fee. I agree with DemRam that the bag is from the mid to late 1970s.

Use a bit of caution when dealing with that seller. She's been discussed elsewhere and apparently her claims of some bags being "certified authentic" are a bit shaky since she's listed a really obvious Coach fake not once but twice (that one wasn't described as "certified".). I'm not sure what happened with the first sale but she did remove the second listing after being contacted and told the bag was fake. Her description says "one of the first Coach Signature bags made in the USA" but of course Coach has never made Sig bags here which she apparently didn't know. The creed also says the bag is made of a completely natural glove-tanned cowhide. She's not dishonest, just not careful enough about what she sells. The Hippie-style bag you asked about is OK though.

Thank you so much DemRam and Hyacinth for taking the time to look over and explain info about the seller and the Coach Cashin era. It is so nice you donate your time to help us TPF people invest our $ into authentic items! :urock:
