I found two vintage bags today, one from the local Peddlers Mall, and the other at one of the local Goodwills! I have been envying fellow tpfers in finding them lately, so I went on a hunt today! I was hoping to get this authenticated!

Item: Ramblers Legacy (fake?)
Listing number: NA
Seller: Local consignment store $13
Photos: http://s1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee413/katev2/Brown ramblers legacy/
Dimensions: 8” high, 10” wide, and 3.25” deep

Comments: I picked this bag up at a local consignment store. It is made of thick, soft leather but I immediately felt some reservations because the grommets on the buckle strap are silver-tone and the bag’s hardware is brass-colored; but it could have been a replacement strap or perhaps the plating has worn off? After I got it home I learned that the style number is for a Willis bag but this it is not a Willis style; one of the inside seams also looks funny to me.

The store owner insisted it was genuine and promised to give me a full refund if I find out it is a fake. I’d appreciate if you would confirm or deny my suspicions before I take it back and discover whether she was telling the truth! Thanks!

That's not authentic. The creed is the dead giveaway. You won't find an authentic Coach with a "W" as the month code AND the wrong style number.

Sorry - but do wait for other opinions!

Thanks, that's what I figured. I had some doubts so I shouldn't have bought it but the owner kept insisting that she was sure it was real. Well, I'll have a chance to find out if she keeps her promises if she let's me return it!

I have not done lot of eBay shopping, after reading through how many fakes
look really good.

Could someone check out these three listings? Thanks, in advance... I hate fakes (two more to follow)

Comments: Looking around eBay for deals. Does this exist ? Hand tag looks odd. I am a coach newbie so some of the older stuff I am totally in awe if it exists or not...

I'm not sure about the "condition" of suede on the bag but I DO believe it's authentic. I am NO expert in anything newer and that bag is from 2008.

I might take a chance. There was an "Archive Collection" and that style is a homage to Bonnie Cashin (even though it's made in China).

:smile1:

It's fine. The Madison line came out in 1993 while Coach was still using all-numeric serial numbers so it's a safe bet yours was made in 1993 or very early 1994 before the new numbering system was used across all model lines.

The style 9033 you asked about in your other post is an Ergo Pocket Flap from 1998.

One of theses days you'll have to take the rest of us to your thrift shops!

Hyacinth and DemRam, thanks for authenticating my Carlyle recently. I had concerns because of the serial number so it was a relief to know that the bag was genuine before I attempted to rehab her. She was in rather rough shape but those Italian Madison bags are bullet-proof and she cleaned up easily and beautifully!
