Item: COACH MADISON PATENT COBALT SOPHIA BAG 15921
Listing number: 350468582202
Seller: purplemoomoocat

As I've requested, the seller has emailed me 7 photos. I have them here on my new flickr (please let me know if there are problems viewing the images!)

I wonder what the verdict is.. The serial number was difficult to photograph, and reads H1026-15921. I am told it was bought off ebay US from a someone who purchased it from Nordstrom, hence the price tag label.

Please do let me know. Btw, does it look to be worn and scratched? This is particularly evident on the close-up photos. I appreciate your help very much!

You are correct. That is NOT authentic for many reasons.

Wait for others to tell you what to do now.

Did you pay for it?

Quick question, ebay has removed this closed, and paid for listing. This bag has been shipped but the seller hasn't replied, yet as I mentioned the listing has been removed which means I can't even leave feedback!!! What the heck? If I get ripped off now, no one will even know.

Patent leather is difficult to photograph because the gloss of the leather causes glare from the flash. It often takes several attempts in various lighting conditions with and without flash to get good pictures.

I think the bag is okay but the pictures are so bright and unclear that I'd prefer another opinion before recommending that you bid.

Comments: I just bought this and am now thinking that it is not real. Can anyone give me a hand? Thanks

Ugh! If you haven't paid for it yet, please don't pay.

Tell the seller that the bag is fake, it's illegal to list and sell fakes and you have no intention of paying for it.

Edited to add: buy2much.spend2much also sold another (third) fake:

And these Coach shoes are fake:

The seller should do a bit of reading here before she finds her ebay account (and reputation) in trouble.

My guess is that the seller's lack of response is because she knew her bags were fake.

When the bag arrives, file a SNAD dispute with eBay. (Ebay is less apt to tell you to return the fake to the seller. Paypal might have you return it and with a seller who has already sold and listed other fakes, she'd probably just relist it and scam another buyer.)

In fact, in the dispute, in addition to describing the details that make the bag fake, mention that the counterfeit listing was removed and that the seller has other fakes in her completed listings and feedback and you "hope you don't have to return the fake and have it relisted again."

After filing the dispute, give her 24 hours to respond and if she ignores it, escalate.

If you need further help, please post again.

It's too bad that you can't leave feedback.

I will definitely do that. Thanks! I'm glad I know what to look for now...I can't believe how easy it is to spot a fake now! Thanks ladies :)

It looks ok to me too. And yes, patent leather is hard to photograph, particularly the type used in the patent Sophias. I think it's the glare from the flash that's making it appear that way, but you can ask the seller if there are any scratches on the leather.

Item: Ramblers Legacy (fake?)
Listing number: NA
Seller: Local consignment store $13
Photos: http://s1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee413/katev2/Brown ramblers legacy/
Dimensions: 8” high, 10” wide, and 3.25” deep

Comments: I picked this bag up at a local consignment store. It is made of thick, soft leather but I immediately felt some reservations because the grommets on the buckle strap are silver-tone and the bag’s hardware is brass-colored; but it could have been a replacement strap or perhaps the plating has worn off? After I got it home I learned that the style number is for a Willis bag but this it is not a Willis style; one of the inside seams also looks funny to me.

The store owner insisted it was genuine and promised to give me a full refund if I find out it is a fake. I’d appreciate if you would confirm or deny my suspicions before I take it back and discover whether she was telling the truth! Thanks!
