...someone has punched an extra hole in the strap so that it can be made shorter. This wasn’t mentioned in the listing...

The bag looks fine. I think it depends on whether you are bothered by the "extra" hole punch? In my opinion that SHOULD have been disclosed. (I purchased a LV bag with an "undisclosed" hole punch and I sent it back). I think it matters if it bothers you! :smile1:

DemRam, I wanted to thank you for your authentication and for your advice. I decided to keep the bag but I contacted the seller and got a partial refund. I rehabbed and it came out very nicely. I gave it to my Mother and she loves it, see the pics at the link below. Thanks again!

She probably got the bags at a home party. They are notorious for selling fakes.

No these were the only two left. She passed away 6 years ago. I appreciate the opinions. I don't sell many handbags, so I count on those in the know to help ME to maintain my integrity as a seller. That was the whole point of coming to these forums. For that I thank you.

But at the same time, we should never assume that these were purchased as an attempt to play up a vanity point because they weren't. This lady was a consumate professional and then also a lonely hermit. She shopped on line alot...bought so much stuff I had 5 foot stacks of brand new clothing to climb over to get in a room. And all rooms were the same. She attended many home parties, and had tons of home decor, never even taken out of the box. We have no way of knowing where they came from originally, but I am very glad I didn't list them for someone else to come across.

I only ask that when members ask for these services, because they respect your opinions, that you be a little more sensitive in your responses. This would be for anyone who acts as a consultant. We can all learn a little here, without feeling ashamed or embarrassed.

Thanks again for your help.

You're right, and I apologise. I should have more understanding of why people find shopping fills their emotional needs since I've had similar problems myself. It's just a shame for everyone concerned especially the lady herself that she wasn't able to deal with her problem or find someone who was able to help.

It's sad that many things we experience especially in our early lives can drag us down for so long afterwards. I'm sorry for you and for the rest of the family that are left clearing up what's left and wishing things had been different. Unfortunately even when we know why we do it and can understand a bit of why other people in our early lives twisted our emotions askew, it doesn't make it any easier to stop. All we can do is try to re-channel our actions into something that can have results that are a little more positive.

Best of luck to you, and again, I'm sorry - my sense of empathy has been missing lately and I need to find it again.

The first one 9554 is a Soft Legacy Zip Tote from 2004. It's a very thin soft lightweight leather that almost has a sort of patina. I have several bags from the Soft Legacy line and like the leather very much but if you're looking for the classic heavy glove-tanned cowhide the older bags were made from this may not be your cup of tea. Since it's only from 2004 it's not really "vintage".

The Aero Small Zip from 1999 is more of a classic Coach leather style but the name is the only information I have on that style. Both bags are genuine.

If it is fake, some poor schmuck just paid over $400 for it. Can our experts on the recent styles take a look and also check out the other items from MAYFAIR2011

On further research, I do question the integrity of mayfair2011.

In several of her listings, there are (what appears to be) watermarks, either shown or redacted that indicate that the pictures belong to someone else.

For example, here are some:

The name of a website is hidden: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...253D&viewitem=

Pictures appear to be taken from someone else's advertisement and the last picture shows a watermark that was cropped off:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...253D&viewitem=
as does this one too:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...253D&viewitem=

This listing shows a huge red flag and is undoubtedly fake:

On this listing, the creed looks wrong. There is a huge space between the No and the first letter, and the all the first five digits seem too far apart. I have a Sophia, but not a gathered leather one, and my creed doesn't look like that.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The only one I could find with a decent creed pic shows the same kind of stamping, and by the codes they were made in the same plant just a month apart.. Maybe they're using a new creed stamp?

I reported the pink one - did you notice that "craftsmanship" was spelled "cFaftsmanship"? :graucho:

ETA - The seller is a "mixer" at best, here are pics of the strap wrap and the creed - notice too that the bag is made "inchina".

Do NOT buy from Mayfair2011

The style isn't familiar but there's a detail on that clutch that just doesn't look right.

More opinions would help but I wouldn't be comfortable bidding on it.
I question the same detail. I don't believe that item is authentic and in fact, I recall a similar one with the same incorrect turnlock hardware a couple of months ago.

Comments: Hi, I made an impulse purchase:sweatdrop:, would you sweet ladies authenticate this vintage bag for me? Thank you so much!:ty:

Were you specifically looking for a Gramercy or did you just get lucky? It IS a genuine Gramercy Small Satchel from 1999. The leather is textured to look a bit like LV's Epi leather but with a smoother surface, and it's one of the very few Coach lines to have added a separate suede lining. The Gramercys were at the top of Coach's line and that one sold for $368 back then.

Nice find!
