I don't know how to post the pics, but the purse I won was #120097971895 and number on creed is 072-7009. It's sort of like a raised leather adhesive embossed seperate # patch under the creed. There's another on ebay that looks like it w/ #250098433702 and #500-0909. I asked that seller to add a more clear photo of id and instead he just emailed the #. Neither of them match in the DD.

Auction #120097971895 is completely genuine and about 25 years old. It has the old glued-on serial number patch and the New York City creed stamp. The older serial numbers don't include the style number and won't show up in the drilldown. The other bag is genuine too. That style was called the Handle Clutch.

There's a post explaining the changes in Coach's serial numbers over the years here, post #34:

A big thanks to court811 and Hyacinth for the authenticity of my navy clutch! The girl selling didn't have a lot of purses, so I hoped it was real, but then I got nervous! Thanks, too, Hyacinth for the info referenced on post #34. I hope I remember where to relocate it before asking other questions on vintage items, but memory frequently fails me :)

Seems like too good of a deal, handle is backwards with no buckle, and brown stitching above the turnlock where it should be white (as per coach site)....

Just testing my skills on whether I'm getting my "eye". Otherwise, is it a different style that I may have to buy?

hmmmm...no...i'm thinking you're getting your eye...the missing buckle is throwing me off too...

it's got some good markings of an authentic bag...and the lighting could be off with the stitching (as the pictures are rather poor)...but the missing buckle bothers me...

My computer is set very bright and the white stitching below the turnlock is very apparent compared to the stitching above it (tan/brown). The handle doesn't even look wide enough, besides being backwards! That bothers me even more then the missing buckle.

wow, thats really cool! I knew you would know. Thats why I always tell people to defer to you on older bags, you're so smart!

Aaaw, shucks, thanks!
But it's not from being smart, it's because I'm old enough to remember back that far! :graucho:

So are you saying that if I walked into a boutique and bought the Legacy Sig Flap, it wouldn't have the buckle either? What about the way the handle is on backwards? Is that standard too?

that very well could have happened.

someone on this board has to have this bag...post a thread asking for pictures of it...maybe someone can prove/disprove the buckle.

I know i've found slight discrepancies in the drilldown vs. real life items...so some changes ARE made in production.

Can anyone help w/ this large tote? #230110993151
It doesn't look like it includes the hangtag or the wristlet (I think) that shows up in the DD, but still a nice size airplane travel bag. What do you think? Thanks!
