I'm sorry but I have to post this. Why in the hell would you put a pink alien thingamajiggy in your photos while taking a photo of your Coach bag? Why? Just why? Everytime I see it I just shake my head.

It's still better than some of the other props I've seen. Or the photos of bags photographed on bathroom floors or propped up on toilets. :D

(Wonder if the winning bidder will get pissy if the stylus or pen isn't included?)

Good evening! I'm hoping you might authenticate this thrifted Stewardess. Great timing that someone just asked about zinc zipper pulls. Thanks in advance!

Item: Stewardess (NYC, 9525 version)
Seller: Goodwill (in my possession)
Dimensions: 11W, 10T, 4D
Comments: The suede 'floor' is not glued down if you need pics underneath.

It looks good.

This one is authentic. I've seen the zinc chains and rings on many bags, including some with US creeds. Those that I've seen with a regular metal zipper pull were pre-creed. I think they were pretty consistent on where the overlapped binding was placed. That is sometimes a clue that something is fake - when the overlap is in an unusual place.
Thank you much. Pretty much as I thought. Having handled quite a few Classic Pouches and Stewardess Bags in my day, I'd like to think that I acquired some awareness of them. But tapping into a broader knowledge base definitely has its rewards and there's always something new to be learned or shared.

This is my #9170 made in NYC. There are two splices on the strap, one at the end by the grommets and one near the center.
Thanks for sharing the photos of yours. I had once thought that a single strip of binding was used for the perimeters of all Classic Pouch straps. Then I ran into one that employed two strips (and therefore two overlap splices) like yours. So perhaps inconsistency rules once again. Or more likely, factory floor variables and standard workarounds. The occasionally "sloppy" nature of the overlap splice adjacent to the buckle holes appears to be a recurrent issue though on many of these bags. But having sewn binding before (and not under the time pressure of a production environment), I can appreciate the challenges that arise when you jump to make the overlap and work towards the loose end.

The skill required to construct these early Coach bags continues to impress me. One of the things I love about them is that each one is unique.

I've enjoyed the photos you've posted in this thread, quite a treasure trove for us all to learn from and admire. Thanks!

You're quite welcome. As mentioned previously, I would appreciate having a venue for sharing photos of our "prides and joys." Those few snapshots from the Archives that float around are nice, but I suspect that collectively there're quite a few pieces, rare and otherwise, that others would appreciate seeing examples of. And from my perspective, Pinterest just doesn't cut it. Maybe tPF should create a COACH>COACH ADMIRING string.

There is a thread, Vintage Coach Photos and Chat:

I bet it prevents anyone from stealing her photos.
I think sellers do it as a way to identify their pictures as their own in a unique way that doesn't use the typical watermark or background that is similar to backgrounds used by others.

Personally, I like when sellers use a background or prop of some sort because as a buyer or authenticator, I find it easier to determine that a seller uses her own pictures of the actual item. As a seller who uses the same background and photographing style in my own listings, it's easier to report and prove infringement when another seller steals my pictures.

I do think the alien is a bit too cutesy for my taste but as Whateve commented, other sellers might be less apt to steal her pics.

Please confirm these are fake:

The one in my files has larger clear jewels in the centers of the flowers and slightly different colors.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Silve...756233?hash=item3f5e1ad449:g:Z~IAAOSwZ8ZW33RD
The one in my files has a pink, not red, purse and pink sunglasses.
Both are fake. She doesn't say that her items, “NEW… without tags… EXCELLENT Condition! We purchase DIRECTLY from the Designers & Retailers!” actually come from retailers of genuine Coach items!
