The second is a camel colored small turnlock pouch with a half-flap. Like the previous post, I'd love to know both if it's genuine and what it is (style number and name).

ETA: It measures 8" wide x 6" high x 3" deep with an adjustable strap that has a 16'-19" drop.

Thank you as always.
This is an authentic collegiate bag 9815 from the mid to late 80s.

I think I know what BB stands for --- but it's not a color code! :D

Before i finished reading, I'd multi-quoted to say that the tag is definitely a replacement tag made at store level in the outlet.

I wonder if the clerk who made the tag used BB to mean (what she thought was) British beige. (Just a guess.)

If you got a good deal and could make a decent profit on a flip, I might consider keeping the bag and getting a professional authentication documenting that it's a legitimate mistake that Coach made when stamping the creed. That would give you the proof you need to show that you did your due diligence and presumably, a buyer could be reassured that she's getting what she paid for.

(In fact, I'm guessing the bags were sent to the outlet when the error was discovered!)

Good evening BeenBurned, thank you for your input! Lots to think about!

I'm so jealous! I have the 90s remake #9004 stroll tote, which I love. In 1969, this was called the patch pocket. Is your pocket on perfectly straight? The pocket is crooked on my remake.

Thanks for the input. I've seen the #9004 Stroll Tote. In addition to the zip pocket on the back, it's noticeably larger (I believe). It was one of the 1991 50th Anniv. Retro releases wasn't it?

As for the pocket being crooked, indeed it is.

Thanks again. And like magic, the appropriate page from 1989 Summer Preview appears in my mail. Now I have to determine its color (sandstone or putty?).

And I'd just like to reiterate my continued appreciation for all the assistance you folks provide. I'd be lost without it.

My crooked pocket is more noticeable than yours. The pockets on my mini Safari are crooked too, as well as the patch pocket on my 2012 Legacy bucket! My retro stroll tote is 10 3/4 by 10 1/4 by 3. It's a very useful size. I only have 2 clutch bags I can actually fit stuff in and this is one of them. I never use either pocket because I don't want to stretch them out but I love that the bag is pretty on both sides.

That's a very nice bag. The color combination reminds me of the denim/leather version of the double-kisslock Swing bag that was issued once-upon-a-time. And yes, the larger size is indeed more useful. I've presently five different 1960s styles (metal tagged with striped fabric linings) sitting here on the workbench, all with relatively small compartments (8" wide x 6" high x 3" deep or so). Certainly not designed to carry much. Part of Cashin's idea of simultaneously carrying multiple bags (for multiple purposes) I suppose.

The largest bags I have from that era are rigid-handled predecessors to the #9546 Skinny Tote (and an Attache) and they don't afford that much volume either. I'm still looking to find examples of the larger barrel or zippered duffels from that era to add to the collection and am still kicking myself for having missed on a couple of opportunities over the past 12 months.

Thanks again for sharing. One of these days, someone should assemble an open virtual museum of the great designs (since COACH's own archives are akin to a museum's inaccessible storage area). Fom my perspective, all those individual Pinterest pages out there just don't cut it. I'd certainly volunteer photos of the 50 or so metal-tagged bags I have here.

Good afternoon ladies: I picked up 2 more bags at an estate sale and am respectfully request their authentication please. Best regards.

Both are genuine.

With vintage bags that have a "generic" or common shape like the first one, it would be a big help to be able to see or at least have listed exactly what kinds of outside and inside pockets the bag has (open/zipped, flat/gussetted etc) and where, since Coach made several styles that look identical on the outside but have different pocket arrangements and different strap attachments. A look at the side and how the strap attaches and if the strap detaches or not would also be helpful. It could be a Pocket Purse, a Shoulder Purse, or something else altogether.

Good afternoon all. I've a couple of what I believe are #9170 Classic Pouches here and would like to confirm authenticity on one of them today.

The bag measures 10" wide x 8-1/2" high x 3-1/2" deep (at the bottom) and has a strap (with narrower ends where the buckle hole are located) that adjusts from 15" - 18" drop. There's a full width slip pocket on the front and a full width zip pocket on the back of the compartment.

I was wondering if the zinc pull chain & ring on the inside (brass) zipper was common? Also, the navy one (that I've yet to photograph) has a integral metal pull tab on the inside (YKK) zipper and not a chain + ring. Does that mean that it was a replacement or is this just another example of Coach using different zipper vendors and styles over the many years that #9170 bags were made?

And lastly, as far as you know, did the overlap where the binding begins/ends on the stepped strap always occur on the narrow end sections? I've handled plenty of these and can't recall one where the termination splice did not appear adjacent to the holes for the buckles and believe I've even seen some that employed two pieces of binding that were overlap spliced on opposite ends. I was just curious if any of you have observed this.

Thanks for giving this a look.

Thank you Hyacinth. Very much appreciated. For your reference, I have attached pictures of the straps and inside view showing the zipper pocket, which is the only pocket on this bag. No outside slip pocket on back. Is it possible to tell approximately when this bag was made? 1970's or early 1980's?

I have one more bag I picked up and would appreciate your gracious help in it's authenticity. I also attached pictures of the straps for your reference. The item is as follows:

Coach Legacy Crossbody (Navy Blue)

Forgive me as I am embarrassed that my pictures are rotating upon upload.

This one is authentic. I've seen the zinc chains and rings on many bags, including some with US creeds. Those that I've seen with a regular metal zipper pull were pre-creed. I think they were pretty consistent on where the overlapped binding was placed. That is sometimes a clue that something is fake - when the overlap is in an unusual place.

The first is a dinky bag. It was probably made in the early 80s, possibly late 70s, as we've seen some earlier dinkys with a different type of strap attachment. According to Coach's current marketing, the style was introduced in 1973. But I don't trust Coach much since they are now selling vintage pocket purses and calling them dinkys.

The second one is a Legacy small zip.

This is my #9170 made in NYC. There are two splices on the strap, one at the end by the grommets and one near the center.
