I agree with Hyacinth that silver hardware often looks gold in photos. What concerns me is the price tag just says Black. In the past when most hardware was brass, they would put silver/black or nickel/black on the tag if it wasn't brass. There was another listing for a black with brass bag here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NWT-Coach-A...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 but the seller doesn't show a picture of the price tag. The seller of the bag in question actually states the color code is SV/BK but that isn't what it says on the tag. Before purchase I would confirm with the seller that the hardware is actually silver.

It could just be the photos but I'm concerned this might have been treated with something. It looks a little shiny. As Hyacinth mentioned, it isn't vintage but bags made in 2000 are great quality.
Thanks Whateve!

1. authentic
2. authentic MFF lanyard
3. shoes are authentic but I don't believe they're very old - I'm guessing but I think they're from about 5 years ago.
4. mini sig zip around accordian wallet, possibly style 2348 from 2005 (described as "new" in Feb. 2005
5. mini sig checkbook insert (I believe this came from a checkbook wallet from the same era as the accordian wallet but I can't find a style number. I don't think it was sold separately without the rest of the wallet)

The following is the zip around from the wayback:

Correction: I found that Coach did make a checkbook cover in a similar style of mini sig pattern so I'm guessing yours was sold separately too but I can't find a style number in the color that yours is.

This is the same item that came in black and khaki, style 3412. (The same black/khaki accordian wallet was style 5857.)

Thanks, BeenBurned for great info AND pics :)

We've just been talking about fake Turnlock Cosmetic Cases style 7171 over at the Hall Of Shame, and I think this may be another one:

This seller LOVE2SHOPDOTBAGS is usually very careful about his/her items, but this is a close call. I'm comparing it to the other real and fake 7171s we've just been talking about and here's what bothers me:

odd non-standard color for 2000, and it's not in ANY of my catalogs for that year

VERY badly stamped creed, off center & just like the fakes except for an H0G- serial prefix

Coach logo stamp on the leather body isn't at either the top OR bottom, it's not in any normal position. Coach's catalog shows it in the lower right corner but the genuine cases seem to have it in the upper right

bad and uneven stitching, corners have too much leather past the stitching and look very sloppy compared to the real ones - I'm posting pics of the corners on the genuine red one vs the questionable green one below. The piping or edging ends at a different place on the green one, see the 4th photo

zipper isn't bright shiny brass like on the real one

and look at the back of the turnlock plate!

Opinions, please?

Based on the multiple differences, I believe that love2shopdotbags item is fake.

If it were just a different turnlock (male) piece or just a different type of zipper, it could be possibly be attibuted a replacement. But with all the issues, I agree that the item is probably fake.

It's interesting that on this creed, the stamping is off-center to the opposite side than those posted in the HoS.

While I don't think she knowingly sells (or lists) fakes, she clearly doesn't do her research before listing.

For the record, I believe that the seller has posted here in (once) in the past:

Genuine, it was called a Compartment Bag, style 9850. The catalog shows it as a 1989 style but it still has a Made in NYC creed, which you don't normally see after early 1988. So it was made in one of those 2 years.

And while we're discussing love2shopdotbags and her listings, she also has another of the same item in red.

I don't believe it's authentic either.

Yes, and it looks like something was partly stamped in the serial number space and then the bag was maybe yanked out from under the stamping mechanism. Some of those scratches might be random, but there are obvious dashes visible between the style number digits as if they were stamped over another number.
