Thank you for the extra photos.

Whateve and I discussed it earlier - posts 10292,10308,10310 and a few others. There's nothing we can pin down as proof that the wallet was made by Coach, and it doesn't have any of the details either of us recognise from genuine Coach wallets from the 80's, 90s, or the "2000s", sorry. If it's earlier, neither of us have any records of anything similar.

I can't even consider it as a firm "maybe", just based on a snap that was used by both Coach and at least one other unknown wallet manufacturer. Snaps weren't made by Coach, they were bought from outside manufacturers. Just as with YKK zippers, Coach didn't have exclusive rights to any one zipper style or manufacturer and didn't use just one kind of snap, nor would they have expected a hardware maker to make an exclusive design just for them unless it had the Coach name or logo stamped into it.

Think about what we said about the layout of your wallet and how the flap especially is finished off on the inside. Then compare it to any other Coach wallet you own, or just look at Whateve's photos of her red wallet from the late 1990s. With very few exceptions, Coach always folded the leather from the outside of the wallet over the edges and stitched it down along the inside edge, and then "mitered" or pleated the corners on the inside. Coach AFAIK has also never stamped their name in the top right corner of the inside card and bill section of envelope flap wallets. And I know there are a small handful of exceptions, but not many Coaches, especially wallets, ever had any contrasting color topstitching along the edges. Whenever I see an item supposedly from the 80s or 90s with white topstitching, I guarantee I;m going to be looking it over with a magnifying glass. I've seen more fakes with that detail than genuine bags or wallets.

We have to look at ALL the details of the wallet, and in this case the non-Coach details outweigh a snap that was made possibly in the tens or hundreds of thousands by an outside independent manufacturer. Unless someone comes up with a catalog photo or an example that still has a price tag attached, I'd have to call it questionable..

My goodness Yes!!!-- I just finished reading everything posted since my request last night and I have to thank everyone for weighing in on this!!! :dothewave::ty:

To follow up on a few details: I just measured the snap and it is 1/2" diameter FWIW. The inside card slots are stitched along the top edges and vertically at the "center" which is actually offset to the left. The single slot to the left of the seam is indeed narrower and taller than the slots to the right making me think perhaps a spare key holder than card slot. I haven't given up all hope but I will certainly set it aside as highly questionable and unverifiable.

interesting note: just now as I pried open every slot I found an embossed bullseye typical of items sent to outlet stores. I can post a photo of it if anyone wants to see it. I know that it still doesn't prove anything...

If it has a bullseye similar to the one Coach uses, that changes the odds a bit, but we still can't consider it firm proof. They're not common but we've seen fake bullseye stamps before. And a fake could have been "returned" to an outlet during a busy time such as after the holidays and the store might have accepted it without a tag or receipt.

OR, it might actually be a Sample or Pilot item that never made it to production. But with those, we have the same problem - there's no way to prove it's genuine because there's no record of it anywhere, not even at Coach. It doesn't seem as if Sample bags made it to the Archives, I've already had someone ask.

If we're authenticating an item based on the details, the details need to be ones we recognise as "the way Coach does it" or even might possibly do it. We learned long ago that perfect stitching and straight seams aren't exclusive to Coach and don't prove something was actually made by them. I've personally taken a chance on an unknown bag with what looked like a Sample style number because the details were exactly what I would have expected in a genuine Coach. It's much harder when the details don't match what we're familiar with - then it becomes a gamble, and there's probably no way of making it pay off other than using the item and enjoying it.

So maybe yours IS a "real" Coach, or could have been one if Management had decided to produce it. But there's just no way to know.

1- Sorry, we can't authenticate without a clear readable photo of the creed stamp and serial number stamp. It's PROBABLY ok but we can't verify that without creed photos. That seller has a really bad habit of not including them, and anyone who sells Coach on a regular basis should know better.

2- Again, no creed photo. The first photo is also not of the actual bag being sold, it's a picture "borrowed" (stolen without permission) from Coach's website, notice the hangtags are different. Again, probably OK but we don't like sellers who illegally use other seller's or companys' legally protected images, and we still would want to see a creed and serial number photo.

3- genuine Mini Shopper

4- PROBABLY FAKE and again, no creed photo. The "J4N-" serial number prefix in the description has never been verified as genuine and without actually seeing it there's a good chance that it might be fake. The fact that style number 4082 which is what the seller has listed belongs to a completely different style makes it almost 100 percent sure the bag is fake.

5- Creed photo isn't readable and the serial number isn't even visible.

We NEVER recommend buying any classic or vintage bag without a clear readable photo of the creed and serial number.

BTW, insert a space after "seller" and the colon before filling in the seller's name - you're inserting a Smiley where it's not supposed to be

Hello. Seller just gave me photo of creed for item number 1.

Many thanks!

Genuine. I don't know the exact name but based on a similar style I had it's probably something like "Signature Mini Crossbody"

The seller shows pictures of 3 bags. Is it possible that she has 3 of a HTF and highly faked item? (ETA: Actually, she shows 4 bags in photo #2.)

Lets see if she posts the pictures that have been requested.

Did she post more pictures? May be the bags are authentic, but they are stolen merchandise....
She did post a picture of one tag and it seems okay.

But something is raising my spidey sense with that seller because she's too anxious to sell, asking me how many I want. I too wonder whether they're stolen.

I guess if you want to take a chance with her, do so but use a credit card to fund the payment. When you receive it, post clear pictures of all parts.

1- Ergos are highly faked and we won't authenticate without a creed and serial photo.

2- genuine City Bag Spectator - did you notice the seller's comment that it smells of cigarettes? It also looks like there might be some leather damage in the lower left corner.

3- genuine
