Hello, would you be so kind to help? My husband just bought me these handbags from ebay, but I am concerned that they may not be authentic. (1st- green scout hobo, 2nd- chalk/birch Edie bag, 3rd- black scout hobo). Can you authenticate these bags for me? Thanks

For some reason, I am not allowed to post all three images of the 3 bags at the same time, I apologize. Continuation...would you be so kind to help? My husband just bought me these handbags from ebay, but I am concerned that they may not be authentic. (1st- green scout hobo, 2nd- chalk/birch Edie bag, 3rd- black scout hobo). Can you authenticate these bags for me? Thanks

All look good!

Thank you for your reply: BeenBurned.

Due to the inside stitching of the pocket on the green hobo purse and the stitching of the Edie bag around the turn lock , I thought they might not have been authentic as they overlap.

I also just noticed that the serial numbers, inside the pockets of both the green (No.A...) and black (No. J...) hobo bags, have the No.A... (written without a space between the period and letter) and No. J (written with a space between the period and letter). I know the pictures are small and probably hard to tell

Should I be worried about that difference? I though this looked odd and was therefore also questioning their authenticity.

Thanks again for your assistance.
The overstitching on the pocket is something that's always done (and you'll see it on clothing too) as it secures the stitching so it won't unravel.

I do see the space/lack of space you've referred to but I don't see a problem.

I've attached an enlarged picture showing what you refer to. Other opinions are welcome. (Sorry that it's grainy as a result of blowing it up.)

I don't see any problems either. As for the differences in the spaces on the white tags - the letter A is almost twice as wide as the letter J, that's where the "extra" space went to.

And like we always remind everyone, Coach changes details constantly.

I agree. I have 4 of the newer items I bought directly from Coach with these kinds of tags and the spacing varies on all of them.

That's what it looks like to me. They might have made some style changes from year to year, and wouldn't have changed the style number. The catalog picture doesn't always match what goes into production. I've had the standard tote and it had an extra half slip pocket that isn't mentioned in the catalog either.

Thanks so much! Good old Coach. Consistent in their inconsistencies!

I'll just add a comment about seller #3, 2010keith8541.

Although the listing in question has been removed, this isn't the seller's only fake. Some listings have pictures that are too blurry to authenticate and another that's an obvious J8Y fake.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Legac...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I also believe this sold bag is fake. The serial number doesn't seem to match the style:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-VTG-D...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

And a "Sport Coach" was sold as Coach:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Spo...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

You're right about the sold bag, it's NOT a style 4160.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE !!!!

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM " 2010keith8541 "

Authentic Vintage Coach #9790 Leather Crossbody Shoulder Bag
I can't tell if the plant code is B or D (J4?-9790), but both plants were still using the old "scars, scratches" creed format in September 1994, with "MADE IN THE UNITED STATES" ON A SEPARATE LINE BELOW THE MAIN CREED. The underscore in "No" is too long, the numbers are in the wrong font for both the B and the D plants. It also looks like the turnlock back has indents.

Yikes! Thanks everyone for the helpful information. :D
Can you help me with a few more authentications?

1) Coach Leather Pouch Bag 9996

I'm confused by this one. The pictures of other bags on ebay say that it should not have a zipper but one of those spring-like closures (I don't know what it's called). Also, does this bag look green or white to you?

2) Authentic COACH Camel Tan Leather Gramercy Clutch

Do very many bags have that metal hang tag?

All are authentic. The first does have a spring closure. The description is wrong. It looks green. It looks like aqua (mint). The Gramercy line came with metal hangtags. Most bags do not.

You're welcome! I rushed so I could get the response before the auction ended. The framed pouch came in three sizes. This is the medium size. There were quite a few styles made in this pretty mint color, which Coach called aqua, in the late 90s. You have to be careful though. I got a fake in this color. It also came in a pretty periwinkle.

Wow that's pretty! And it looks like a really good strap length. If only I'd bid a little more! :panic: Is that the periwinkle on the bottom picture? CUTE! I hope you realize you're creating a monster...

Yes that's the periwinkle. I don't want to be alone in the nuthouse! I live to tempt others into being obsessed with Coach! :graucho:

Hi, I'm newbie in Purseforum. I'm newbie with Coach also. Two weeks ago I haven't ever heard of Coach ( I'm Scandinavian girl and Coach is not very familiar here). Now I have quite a long wish list already...this seller has many Coach styles and every one says it's real and authentic. What do you experts think? I'm very thankful I found this forum:p but honestly; I think this is very dangerous...my poor wallet!

The bag is authentic.

ETA: I'd appreciate another opinion on a DIFFERENT bag from ggerg23.

Although I don't believe this seller intentionally lists fakes, I checked my records and did see some reports of fakes from a couple of years ago. I think the seller buys for resale and doesn't do her due diligence.

It's fake. I don't think we've ever seen a valid Y plant code. The stitching around the ends of the drawstrings is wrong. There should also be piping around the inside bottom seams. You can see what they should look like in this listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coa...ple-Leather-/291567901593?hash=item43e2cd1b99
Picture 1 shows the drawstring ends. The second to the last picture shows the piping.

Hi there!

I was hoping you might be able to authenticate this purse.
I asked the seller for interior photos that weren't included in the original posting. She promptly sent the attached pics over. Looks like there's no creed, but I've been told in the past that some of the smaller bags do not have them.
Thank you in advance for your help!
