The bag is authentic.

ETA: I'd appreciate another opinion on a DIFFERENT bag from ggerg23.

Although I don't believe this seller intentionally lists fakes, I checked my records and did see some reports of fakes from a couple of years ago. I think the seller buys for resale and doesn't do her due diligence.

Is Y ever a valid US plant code?

It's fake. I don't think we've ever seen a valid Y plant code. The stitching around the ends of the drawstrings is wrong. There should also be piping around the inside bottom seams. You can see what they should look like in this listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coa...ple-Leather-/291567901593?hash=item43e2cd1b99
Picture 1 shows the drawstring ends. The second to the last picture shows the piping.
Thank you for confirming.

As I'd said, I don't think ggerg23 purposely sells fakes but every listing that has been fake was an older classic style. CLearly, she's not familiar enough with older bags to recognize what makes them fake.

Hi there!

I was hoping you might be able to authenticate this purse.
I asked the seller for interior photos that weren't included in the original posting. She promptly sent the attached pics over. Looks like there's no creed, but I've been told in the past that some of the smaller bags do not have them.
Thank you in advance for your help!

The only probably genuine Y codes I've ever seen are the ones below from 2006 and made in China. The D6Y- Daypack has the problems Whateve already pointed out, and every J8Y- prefix is fake and all the photos I have of bags with that prefix, from the almost perfect fakes to the really obvious ones, all have almost exactly the same font in the serial number.

I neglected to put the words "United States" in my response, although that is what I meant. I actually was looking at those same 2006 Y creeds in my files when I posted.

Hi, I'm newbie in Purseforum. I'm newbie with Coach also. Two weeks ago I haven't ever heard of Coach ( I'm Scandinavian girl and Coach is not very familiar here). Now I have quite a long wish list already...this seller has many Coach styles and every one says it's real and authentic. What do you experts think? I'm very thankful I found this forum:p but honestly; I think this is very dangerous...my poor wallet!

Just an FYI - she has removed fakes when asked so just let her know and refer her here. I wish she would join here and ask before posting...

Hi, I bought this vintage coach bag at a garage sale and was wondering if it was real? It's the Devon bag. It's black with brass hardware. It was hard to see the serial number in the bag. It looks like "No-0917-220." Thanks!

As a newbie in purse world and before I found Purseforum, I purchased two bags. I know; I should have known, there is place like this forum...oh well, I feel quite stupid now. Anyway, my fears has grown exponentially after reading Coach fakes. I think I need to know if these bags are counterfeits. At least this forum has teached me a very useful rule; ask before, not after!

This is first;
