IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

The style number doesn’t match, is that ok that it doesn’t?
It's okay because the bag was made before 1994. Bags made in 1994 and after have style numbers in the creed. You can tell these creeds because the number starts with a letter of the alphabet. When the creed number is all numeric, the number is unique and random and doesn't mean anything.

Item: listing just says “Vintage Coach” no bag model stated in description either
Listing: on Mercari https://item.mercari.com/gl/m31097184137?sv=0
Seller: Lisa Zapata

Attached are all the pics from the listing. Would love to know if this is authentic and if so what kind of bag it is - thanks in advance!
It's authentic. There aren't a lot of pictures to help in IDing it and no measurements provided, but it looks like a stewardess bag to me.

Another listing for someone to look at please. Any idea what style name/number this wallet is? Year, photo, etc? Thanks so much!

Item: Coach Vintage Black Wallet
Seller: runnerchica102
Item number: 196203104479

I don't have a good feeling about this listing. More opinions are welcome.

Thanks for taking a look. I have not paid yet, so I'll wait for other input.
I agree with @whateve. I don't believe it's authentic.

From what I see, the wallet from runnerchica102 has a mix of various elements from at least 3 or 4 different Bedford wallets, but most closely seems to be trying to copy 6999.

Glad I held off on making the payment. I've not had this happen before, so what is the best way to handle it now? Notify the seller with a request to cancel the sale (and chance the wallet being relisted)? Or report the wallet as not authentic to eBay?

Let the seller know you want to cancel and tell her the reason why. If she relists it knowing it's fake, you'll know the kind of seller she is. Once canceled, you can report if you'd like but I wouldn't suggest reporting until you get your refund.

ETA: Ooops, I realized you didn't pay yet. That's good. But still don't report until the cancellation is done. After cancelled, report away.

Hello! was wondering what you guys think about this little coin purse. Could this #4848? Purchased at a local thrift store.
4” W x 2.75” H

Seller cancelled immediately without any type of reply or response. So maybe she already knew??? I've reported it as well.

Thanks @whateve and @BeenBurned for your help! You've saved me from being the owner of a FAKE Coach.

ETA: She's relisted it.....for a few minutes. :wtf::tdown:

Hi Authenticators. A friend bought this Dinky remake tea rose bag from a seller on ebay named laurajo-39. When I call up the bag on ebay it shows a rogue 25 for some reason so I'm including pics of the bag. The issue is, the creed has a few errors? The M in 'Made' looks like an N and the bottom word NUMBER is missing the R. What do you think of this bags authenticity? I hope i'm doing this right, here's pictures of the bag Thank you

Hello! I’m brand new here, and learned I cannot post my own thread. So I’m guessing I just reply to this? I recently purchased this Coach Tea Rose Small Appliqué Dinky (Rouge/Black) off eBay. Noticed it’s missing the letter “R” on the creed for the very last word (number). I’ve had several knowledgeable folks review this, most siding with authentic. I need to know as I am a reseller, and authenticity is very important to me… plus, if it’s fake, I need to return it to get my money back! As for the link for the original listing… for some odd reason, I go to my orders, click on the item, and when I copy & paste the link, it loads a different bag from a different seller (but a Coach Rogue Tea Rose). So I hope I’m including enough details for you to help. The sellers eBay username is Laura Jo-39. She has sold a handful of other Coach tea Rose bags, and has 100% feedback. I’ve owned ~50 dinky bags and several were tea rose, and this bag didn’t alert me in anyway until the missing letter in the creed. So here’s as much info I can provide as requested:
From eBay:
Item#: 186155915620
Seller: laurajo-39
Link (it takes you to a different listing even though I am getting this from my eBay order history): https://www.ebay.com/itm/1861559156...aXT7MBtRXm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Please, please, let me know if you need any additional pics or information. I know there are some creed error bags, so I don’t want to assume it’s fake when the rest looks / feels real.
I wasn't going to authenticate the bag from laurajo-39 but I have a few comments.

1. I'm speaking for myself when I say this. I don't appreciate being considered stupid or naive or I can't see what's happening when posters come here for confirmation of authenticity, confirmation of inauthenticity or to try to fool me (or us?) with trick questions. I'm aware of private discussions of me, my authentications, TPF authentications and that people are sent here for additional opinions when outside private groups don't know answers.

2. BE HONEST! Don't waste my time or that of other authenticators when you know answers. Keep in mind that TPF members are volunteers who offer our help as a goodwill gesture. We don't know any of you and owe you NOTHING, but we want to help (at least here in the Coach subforum) both buyers and sellers. We don't want to see buyers scammed with fakes and we appreciate when sellers are honest enough to verify their items BEFORE listing them.

3. Since trademark law disallows the sale of counterfeit goods and the law requires that all items be authentic, ebay, Poshmark, Mercari, Etsy and most other sites have policies that comply with the law. Sellers are required to KNOW items are authentic and if they don't know or if they cannot confirm authenticity, it's illegal to list those items!

4. TPF allows us (as volunteers) to answer or to ignore any request for any reason or for no reason. If you're ignored (and not just missed by mistake), it's usually for a reason you're aware of.

5. If you've been ignored, that means there was no verification of the authenticity of an item.

So imagine my shock and surprise when I saw that the bag that had been listed by laurajo-39 and questioned by both @crazycatlady76 and @godsgirl31415 AND NOT verified as authentic was already listed on Poshmark! Not only is it listed but the listing states that it's "*** Currently being authenticated; certificate will be uploaded once complete and will be included in your order ***."

I'd love to know what company authenticated it (or is authenticating it) because there are more problems than a missing R!

And interestingly (and IMO sneakily), the creed photo in the Poshmark listing is cleverly (not in a good way) such that the missing "R" in "number" isn't shown. Why would a seller do that unless to hide an important detail?

Note that this part of my post is NOT to help the seller (or the authenticator who she claims will be submitting a certificate) but to save an unwitting buyer $525. Fortunately, there are enough other problems with the bag to state with 99.999% certainty that it's NOT authentic, should never have been listed and certainly shouldn't include a COA from any company.

According to her post here, "I need to know as I am a reseller, and authenticity is very important to me." If the poshmark seller(s) in question really wants to stay honest, she'll end that listing.

Again, NO item should be listed unless and until authenticity is KNOWN with 100% certainty.

If I thought you were stupid...why would I ask for your advice about this bags authenticity? What else makes this bad?

Please authenticate I'd like to post in rehab thread, I do appreciate it and thanks for all your help
