Please authenticate this briefcase for me on Tradesy.

Noshoepolish really needs to take a look at it.

I'm not happy with the serial number font. And there aren't enough photos of other important details like the Organiser pocket or the back of the turnlock plate. There are probably other details that Shoe might want to see too, like the strap buckles and how they're attached to the rest of the case.

There's another L5H-5180 with exactly the same creed and serial stamp here, but no close-up of the turnlock or any photo of the organiser pocket. Some unusual stretch marks though:

Here's a G5H-4115, probably genuine
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Cogna...c-centipede-/361357731780?hash=item54229967c4

a K5H-5180 with the same serial and creed fonts as the one being authenticated, with a flap that has a LOT of elephant-skin-type stretch marks
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coa...t-Lthr-Mint-/191642742352?hash=item2c9ecc2e50

and a probably OK L5H-4134 Soho Back Sac
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-100-c...ited-States-/141703016434?hash=item20fe286ff2

The *5h-5180 creeds and numbers just don't feel right to me. (There are at least 4 fake 5180s currently listed too, which doesn't help!)
More opinions are welcome.

I'm not comfortable with it. Since the creed number details have been obscured by the flash, I decided to look at the edges for anomalies. I haven't found an authentic H creed that doesn't have tails on the "N" of "No." There could be problems with the shape of the digits and the spacing and alignment of the numbers but it is difficult to tell in that photo.

I am not a member there so I can't really see the photos.
While I realize that Hyacinth and Whateve aren't comfortable and you aren't going to buy the bag, here are the pictures, in case they might help NSP.

ETA: I found this listing for a different style bag but with the IDENTICAL L5H prefix. This creed has the N with serifs and the spacing is more typical of that from the H plant.

And another made in a different month but also with N with serifs:

I am seeing more and more differences. Notice the numeral "1"...I don't know what you call it but the top "hookie thing" that faces left is really short and unpronounced on the bag in question, while on the good bags it is longer and different. Also the dash in between the plant letter and the numbers is long and almost touches the H in the authentic bags..not so on the briefcase.
Well, good try but!

Yep. There are too many small differences that just don't add up.

And check out the probably fake K5H-5180 mentioned in my previous post - the entire creed stamping looks really sloppy. The creed letters are stamped AND carved unevenly, and they all look "handmade" is the best way I can describe it.

Hello! ANy thoughts on this one?--NYC Leatherware, kind of an oxblood color. Also, I'm curious about the extra little belt loop on the inside, which looks like one on an older, bright red one *without a buckle* (a Cashin, I think) that I have, but on this one not sure what purpose it would serve? Thanks so much.

Could someone authenticate my Coach bag for me. It was given to me by a family friend. I took the photos myself. I have no receipt or bag it came in. Thanks in advance.

Genuine, one of the Saddle Pouches from the 1980s or early 90s.

The extra loops are to tuck the strap at the bottom into if you don't want to always leave it fastened with the buckle. It prevents it from just dangling down from the bottom of the purse and gives you quicker access to the contents of the purse although obviously it's not nearly as secure..

Thanks for another one, Hyacinth!

Could someone please help authenticate this Coach bag. Concerns are silver grommets on strap, "solid brass" stamp on buckles and a kind of large leather pull tab - not a size I'm used to seeing.
Thanks!

I don't believe that seller mckoyladybug 's listing is authentic. Please wait for other opinions. (Are you the winner/buyer?)

Note that she also sold a fake Dooney something or other. (I'm not sure what it's supposed to be!) I don't recommend mckoyladybug.

For future requests, please refer to post #1 posting format and information we need. http://forum.purseblog.com/showpost.php?p=27792584&postcount=1

The bag is fake in my opinion. The creed font is wrong. The silver grommets are always a warning flag. The pocket appears to be the wrong shape and size. The zipper is too short for the opening. If the buckles are stamped with "solid brass" then there is no way it can be authentic in my opinion since they stopped using solid brass in the 80s on this style.

Thank you for the quick reply. Sorry my posting format was incorrect...will be sure to follow next time.

Thank you for the quick reply. So Coach stopped using solid brass in the 80's on this style? Do they now use plated metal or what kind of metal are they now using?
Thanks!

You're welcome. Few Coach bags were made with solid brass hardware. Coach used it on some 70s bags and realized quickly how heavy it was. For the large buckles especially, they started using plated brass, probably in the 80s. Some styles in the 90s had solid brass but not this one. Generally, unless the bag has a unique serial number, you wouldn't expect to see solid brass on a classic style.

I'm not sure what they are using these days. The last few years, many bags had "light gold" hardware. Many bags for sale currently have the code IM for the metal, which some say stands for imitation metal.
