I recently purchased a 1st Gen Mineral Rogue from an online auction. I have 2 other Rogue's. Both are 2nd gen, I believe. I've been comparing the 1st Gen to the others and the main thing I've noticed is that the leather doesn't feel quite as thick, but I don't know if that could be a due to color variation. My other 2 are Oxblood and Chalk, rather than Mineral. I also noticed the edging on this bag feels like the other 2, but I've seen a youtube video saying the edging on the 1st Gen is much stiffer, almost like there is a wire in it. This bag edging does not feel so stiff it's almost like a wire is inside. It feels very similar to the other 2. Absolutely everything else seems to check out, even when looking with a magnifying glass. Correct stamping on all the brass hardware as far as I can tell, and when compared to the others I have. There is a Made in Vietnam tag on the inside and a white No. L1580 38124 tag inside the zipper pocket. Either this is a deep fake or it's a true 1st Gen, but I don't know what would distinguish it as authentic. My reason for doubt is that the bag looks almost unused, but one side is so slouchy it does not stay upright on it's own, which I would not expect from a virtually unused bag, but perhaps it was stored incorrectly for years. Any photos needed to help determine it's authenticity, I'll be happy to take, but I'm guessing it will come down to details only an expert would recognize because the easy-to-spot signs of a fake aren't there. Anyone know enough about the 1st Gen Rogue in Mineral to tell me what photos you might need to help determine?

A vintage New York City made briefcase in burgundy for $15... had to get it. Please and thank you for taking a look and letting me know if it's authentic. PS: if real, what style is this? 17 x 11 x 3 It looks to me like 5060 "Attache."

Gah! This bag is confusing me. It is a navy "pre-creed" bag. Measures approx 13" wide, 11" high, and 1.5" deep. Handles have a 5" drop. The leather is thick and supple.

ISSUES: the metal trim around the exterior kisslock compartment is silvertone. The hardware for handle attachment is silvertone. The zipper ring and pull are silvertone. The zipper teeth are brass tone, as well as the "BEAD CHAIN" stamped hang tag chain.
Is this authentic? It doesn't look like any of the totes of this era (late 60s, early 70s?) that I've seen. Help!

Authenticators, what can you tell me about this Goodwill pretty? Style 9043 matches catalog photos. Comes with a COA from the service with initials AF, fwiw. No measurements are given.

Photos from the listing.

Many thanks in advance.

This one is authentic and AF got it right. But 9043 is a style that is closely faked so it's a good idea to verify.

Genuine, and you're probably correct about the style name.

Style 9965 has been frequently and closely faked, and I believe this is one of the fakes. There are problems with the serial number stamping and with the actual construction of the bag. Sorry.

Here are two actual catalog photos from 1997, note the differences in the positioning and even the shape of the flap.

ETA - and here are two examples of exactly the same serial number from genuine 9965s. The differences seem small but are apparent when the photos are compared. The extra "overstamping" marks above and below the numbers in the second example are not important in this case and are just caused by the amount of pressure used in the stamping. The "No" is definitely important.

Comments: This is my own listing would truly appreciated authenticating. Thanks in advance!

Forum rules don't allow sellers to post links to their own listings since it can be considered "advertising". Please include your own photos especially of any "COACH" stamp or plaque inside the bag but without the listing link in case the Mod removes the original post. Thank you.

That ebay listing was posted on the Hall of Shame last night but it appears to have been correctly removed from ebay.
