I recently purchased a 1st Gen Mineral Rogue from an online auction. I have 2 other Rogue's. Both are 2nd gen, I believe. I've been comparing the 1st Gen to the others and the main thing I've noticed is that the leather doesn't feel quite as thick, but I don't know if that could be a due to color variation. My other 2 are Oxblood and Chalk, rather than Mineral. I also noticed the edging on this bag feels like the other 2, but I've seen a youtube video saying the edging on the 1st Gen is much stiffer, almost like there is a wire in it. This bag edging does not feel so stiff it's almost like a wire is inside. It feels very similar to the other 2. Absolutely everything else seems to check out, even when looking with a magnifying glass. Correct stamping on all the brass hardware as far as I can tell, and when compared to the others I have. There is a Made in Vietnam tag on the inside and a white No. L1580 38124 tag inside the zipper pocket. Either this is a deep fake or it's a true 1st Gen, but I don't know what would distinguish it as authentic. My reason for doubt is that the bag looks almost unused, but one side is so slouchy it does not stay upright on it's own, which I would not expect from a virtually unused bag, but perhaps it was stored incorrectly for years. Any photos needed to help determine it's authenticity, I'll be happy to take, but I'm guessing it will come down to details only an expert would recognize because the easy-to-spot signs of a fake aren't there. Anyone know enough about the 1st Gen Rogue in Mineral to tell me what photos you might need to help determine?
If this purse is not authentic, I will return it. https://shopgoodwill.com/item/175964899

Please post a picture of that white tag. (That company shouldn't have authenticated it without that picture!)

Thanks for the advise but unfortunately no, it was purchased at an estate sale a long time ago. Looks like I have been burned as well.

It's happened to all of us, even the authenticators, at onetime or another. Getting burned can be a powerful motivator to learn what makes something authentic or fake and how to pass that knowledge on.

Hi there! I wondering if someone would be willing to authenticate this Willis bag? The seller sent me quite a discount, and the serial number seems genuine to me but I still feel a little in over my head evaluating it's authenticity!

Item: Coach Willis Bag
Serial: No. J4C-9927

Thanks in advance!

Please copy and post the seller's photo(s) of the creed and serial number. Thanks.

And please always include a copy of that photo in all authentication requests. Having the "right" serial number can never prove a "Coach" is authentic.

Thanks, Hyacinth, for bearing with me as I learn the ropes! Here's the photo of the creed and serial number on the post: Screen Shot 2023-09-12 at 5.51.52 PM.png

It's authentic.

Gah! This bag is confusing me. It is a navy "pre-creed" bag. Measures approx 13" wide, 11" high, and 1.5" deep. Handles have a 5" drop. The leather is thick and supple.

ISSUES: the metal trim around the exterior kisslock compartment is silvertone. The hardware for handle attachment is silvertone. The zipper ring and pull are silvertone. The zipper teeth are brass tone, as well as the "BEAD CHAIN" stamped hang tag chain.
Is this authentic? It doesn't look like any of the totes of this era (late 60s, early 70s?) that I've seen. Help!

It's authentic. The brass plating could have worn off. I did it accidentally to a bag once by washing it in TSP. It's an early version of the skinny tote.
