It's fine, and Thanks for the photo!

I believe the color was called Acorn, or maybe it was a store exclusive.

ETA- another possibility is Taupe, which was available in 1995. The color in your photo reminds me a lot of my Taupe 1995 Willis.

@Hyacinth. You are remarkable! Thank you for the authentication and color suggestions. I know how lucky I am to have found this group.

Would you please authenticate this bag I purchased from a family friend? It's about 8" x 12" x 4.5"
Thank you

Hi! Can this bag please be authenticated? I haven’t purchased it yet. The creed looks really strange to me. I haven’t seen photos of Tafts with the “Made in United States” under the outline.

Item: Taft (hopefully?)
Seller: private sale

Politely bumping in case this was missed…thank you for your consideration.

Dear Authenticators,
I recently found two of my unicorns within a few weeks of each other. Two very expensive unicorns, so now I’m on a bag ban for awhile! Will one of you please take a look at this marleigh bag? I’ve never seen one in person until now, and I’d really hate to be wrong about this one. Thank you bunches. I’ve added some of my own photos but the creed is super hard to photograph.

Hi ladies, I want to post this so it would be in the record in case anyone comes looking for the “ purse forum authentication “ on this Foach.

Thank you, Tracy

Did you ask the seller to link to the authentication? I hope we didn't actually tell anyone this bag was authentic because it isn't.

Hi ladies, I want to post this so it would be in the record in case anyone comes looking for the “ purse forum authentication “ on this Foach.

And why would Coach have to transfer the B plant code to Italy? That doesn't make any sense. The Italy plant had their own code. And if Coach needed a temporary code for a temporary plant, they had "floater" codes for just that purpose.

There was at least one earlier discussion about a number of "Sonomas" with B plant codes and Italy creeds right around Feb 26,2017

The "Coach" cartouche and logo above the creed in post 82214 definitely has some serious problems.

The purse is totally fake, and when ask for proof of authentication, she ignores people. It’s been reported, but it’s Facebook marketplace and you’re more likely to have monkeys fly than it get removed. I just wanted this in the records as fake incase som unsuspecting buyer comes looking.
Tracy

The seller on Facebook Marketplace referred to in Post 82214, " MONIEK VAN RHEENEN "

also has it listed on Poshmark under seller ID " moniekjvr "

with the same false claims that it was authenticated at the Purse Forum. I did a bit of searching here using search terms COACH , 4922 and ITALY and did NOT find any authentication of that bag. THAT RED "SONOMA" IS FAKE.

I tried to post a comment to that effect on Poshmark but because of my unsupported browser issues was unable to do so. However, in case any potential buyers take the time to do a little digging, this is the Comment I tried to post on Poshmark:

"As one of thePurseForum authenticators I am asking this seller to provide the exact date or the URL when she claims we authenticated that bag. I have run a Search on ThePurseForum for all posts matching 2 basic details in the bag's description and found nothing that matches. But I've found numerous mentions of fake Sonomas with that 4922 style number. Please provide proof that we actually authenticated that bag, because it should not have been declared authentic."

Here's another Questionable creed we found in 2017 in the same style bag, posted in the February 26, 2017 discussion of B plant codes with Italy creeds. Note the same REALLY BAD Coach logo in the creed's cartouche:

A link to that discussion, which was spread out over several pages, can be found just a few posts above this one:

There's also a post at the Coach Hall Of Shame thread about this red fake. Here's the creed patch for comparison:

That fake from Facebook seller Moniek van Rheenen aka Poshmark seller moniekjvr was posted on the Hall of Shame early yesterday morning.

DO NOT BUY FROM Moniek van Rheenen on facebook or moniekjvr on Poshmark. Not only does she sell fakes but she lies about the bag being authenticated here.

Purchased at Poshmark, seller: joannecb
Item: Vintage Coach Leather Satchel

Creed: LOP-9420. Made in Costa Rica.
Really nice satchell bag, please and thank you for an authentication.

I'll leave it to another authenticator to comment because I don't do Poshmark listings or sellers nor do I recommend the site.

But I will comment on the seller, joannecb because I think it's important to know how sellers do business. Sellers are expected to abide by the law and website policies. They are expected for verify and confirm authenticity BEFORE listing and selling

This is a fake sold by joannecb :

The sad thing is that the buyer paid $57 for a fake when an authentic version could have been purchased for $35/obo on ebay:
