Hello all, first time poster and I'm recently fallen into a vintage coach rabbit hole. I'm not ready to purchase yet and am trying to read up on creeds and educate myself the best I can before making a decision but, I can't seem to find any information about creeds where there is just a series of numbers. I know coach didn't always provide numbers in their creeds but is this what's in the picture something they ever did?

This NOT an authentication.

The request doesn't show enough pictures or information we'd need but I will comment on your question of "is this what's in the picture something they ever did?"

There have been mistakes on authentic items such as the example you've shown. Random serial numbers (pre-1994) were hand-stamped and on occasion, they wouldn't have the dial on the hyphen but would stamp an extra digit in place of the hyphen.

My grandmother just passed and this bag was hers that had long been forgotten about. I’m in the process of cleaning it and trying to restore it, but I’m not sure if it’s even real. From the information I found online, it looks like it’s a Coach Pocket Purse, but the creed imprint is hard to read so I’m wondering if it’s a fake. The leather is still damp from cleaning it, so I don’t know if that could have affected it in anyway. From the creed and the serial number, it seems like it’s a late 70s bag, but from what I’ve heard, the pocket purse came out in the 80s. For reference, I found a receipt in it from the early 90s, so it’s at least that old. Any help you can give is very much appreciated!
PS…I’m new to the purse forum so if I didn’t do this authentication request correctly, I apologize!

It's an authentic pocket purse and your bag was made in 1995.

You'll find many answers about Coach creeds and serial numbers in the six Salearea Coach Guides posted here and with a link to it Pinned to the top of almost every page in this thread with an index. It helps top carefully read the entire thread although the first 13 posts are mostly background info and some older links no longer work:

Hi ladies, I want to post this so it would be in the record in case anyone comes looking for the “ purse forum authentication “ on this Foach.

Thank you, Tracy

Did you ask the seller to link to the authentication? I hope we didn't actually tell anyone this bag was authentic because it isn't.
