Thank you and be safe!

Pictures of the bags, links to listings and seller IDs are necessary to give opinions of the bags.

A tag, genuine or fake isn't necessarily indicative of authenticity of the bag it's on. Genuine tags can be attached to fakes (as can hangtags) in an attempt to fool and conversely, a seller might attach a fake tag or incorrect tag to a genuine item but that doesn't mean the tag is authentic nor does it mean that the tag goes with the bag it's on.

Another consideration is that sometimes, replacement tags are made by Coach at their stores to replace a missing tag. Replacement tags sometimes look different from the original tag that came from the factory.

In order to offer even a possible opinion about the tags, we need to see and authenticate the bags they came with. please post the listings and pictures of the bags. (If the necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to add them to the post.)

I apologize for not attaching photos of the bags earlier. I was more confused about the price tags and dust bags. I'm attaching my photos here and will reply separately for the second bag.

Please post a clear picture of the creed patch.

Hi Authenticators! Thrilled to have found this resource and so appreciative for your dedication and help.

I have a few vintage coach bags I picked up at an estate sale. I've done a ton of research, but I am in no way an expert. Could you pretty please weigh in and let me know if you think they are authentic?

Bag #1: Murphy 1990's(?) - J8H-9930
9" tall x 7" length

Sorry it's fake.

Thank you for weighing in! If you don't mind, so I may better learn, what would help me identify that it is fake? And what do I do with it now? I don't want to even donate it only to have a counterfeit back in circulation. Ugh.
It's not as easy as learning a few basics but in this case, the serial number prefix, J8H is invalid. The H plant wasn't in operation in 1998. There are other problems with the construction and padding on the front tab of the turnlock closure but they aren't things you'd necessarily recognize until you've looked at a lot of bags.

As you've learned from this mistake, just because a bag has what looks like a correct style number and looks similar to what the style looks like doesn't mean that the bag is authentic.

I'm not sure how difficult it is to get in touch with the company that ran the estate sale or if you think the amount you paid is worth it but for future reference, it's illegal for anyone (estate sales, thrifts, etc.) to sell fakes, knowingly or not. The law requires that they verify authenticity before selling any item.

This isn't to say that they abide by the law but it is the law!

I really appreciate your explanation ... wasn't sure if it was something obvious I overlooked.

I went to so many estate sales that day, I doubt I will be able to remember them to track down. It wasn't a lot of money, but good to know the law for future reference! Thanks again!

The bag is authentic, IMO.

ETA: And the tag looks right.
I really appreciate all of your help! This is the second bag in question: http://www.vestiairecollective.com/...-leather-madison-coach-handbag-24914102.shtml

This bag threw me off a bit due to slightly uneven stitching in a couple of spots. I’m not sure if the “quilting” can affect that.

Also, when comparing the creed to the previous bag this one is much shinier in appearance and the writing is a bit more difficult to read. The bags seem to have the same factory code though.

Hello again Authenticators! After discovering one of my coach bags was fake after your assessment yesterday, it got me questioning everything! So I dug this messenger bag out. Is it another fake? Thank you!
