Absolutely! And good luck
Thanks Hyacinth! I didn’t report the listing- looks like someone might have beat me to it.

But the seller did message me back insisting that the bag is authentic and said that it was verified by coach in store and again by telephone today. She even sent me screenshots…

ETA: I didn’t refer her to this forum but did tell her that the font of the serial number is incorrect.

ETA (2): By the way, the picture she sent even shows the font is different.. I don’t know how coach thinks it’s an authentic bag!

If that bag was authenticated by the company whose COA is shown, it makes me question the credibility of their authentications. Without a picture of the small white label hidden inside the bag, there's NO WAY the bag can be authenticated and for them to deem it as genuine means they don't know what to look for when authenticating.

Hello, I am new here and I’m hoping that I am posting appropriately. I wanted to treat myself after finally getting a job. I’m so disheartened because it seems like there’s so many fakes anymore, I haven’t bought anything for myself in a decade, it seemed impossible to find a Basquiat Rogue 25 for less than 500, so I wanted to settle for a Dempsey. Can anyone tell me if this is authentic?

Please read the READ ME post at the top of each page and include ALL the required information ESPECIALLY all the info and URLs for the listing itself, the seller's name and site ID, and any other required details. Coach bags are highly faked and Basquiat fakes seem to be common. There's one detail in your photos that worries me very much.

Where is the seller located?

I'm still hoping to find photos of a proven genuine Basquiat creed from any of our members. We talked about another probably fake Basquiat last year here:

We also strongly discourage anyone buying any item from any special collections such as Basquiat, Peanuts, Disney, etc from private sellers on sites or locations in Asia. Those should whenever possible be bought directly and in person from a physical Coach store, although we know that's often not possible with items no longer in production. And please don't be fooled by any websites or sellers that claim to be affiliated with Coach. Coach only partners with major department stores.

If you haven't actually bought the bag yet, PLEASE WAIT.

MORE OPINIONS ARE WELCOME.
DO NOT BUY THAT BAG!

I'm going to put on my fortune teller's hat and state that I'm willing to bet that the bag is listed or was found listed by an Asian seller, most likely a Japanese one.

As @Hyacinth stated, we need (and want) to see links and seller IDs of listings.

The proliferation of fakes from Japanese sellers has increased exponentially and I strongly recommend against buying from them. The fakes are extremely close and come with paperwork, tags, care cards, gift receipts and other supposedly "authentic" props, none of which are authentic.

ETA: The bag shown IS fake!

That the seller claims it was "authenticated" by Coach in a store proves our advice that the LAST place to verify authenticity of a Coach bag is a Coach store. SAs are trained to sell current merchandise.

They are NOT trained to authenticate and many probably weren't even born in 1997, the year the fake was supposedly made.

Feel free to refer quikchevyz71 here and point out both my post (#75,289) and Hyacinth's post (#75,291) deeming the bag as fake.

Are we still talking about the bag in these photos?

Coach absolutely FORBIDS employees from authenticating ANYTHING. Their website clearly states "We do not respond to requests to authenticate product or identify authorized distributors..."

And "authenticating by phone" is even worse! Authenticate WHAT? A serial number in a bag they can't even see? If the bag was even genuine it would have been made 25 years ago, so what qualifies ANY Coach employee to claim they're qualified to authenticate an item that in many cases is even older than the employee? Where are their comp photos of a genuine bag with the same or very close production codes??? The photos that BeenBurned and I posted tell the real story.

The seller " quikchevyz71 " is, to put it politely, trying to pull the wool over your eyes. I'm posting her name in this post to make sure it shows up in a Search in case anyone else is tempted to buy from her. Which considering the BS she sent you, I would NOT recommend. I might have given her the benefit of the doubt if she had just admitted she made a mistake, but sending you bogus "proof" that Coach authenticated an obvious fake takes my response to a different level.

Genuine Casino Bag from 1996.The color appears to be British Tan.
PS May I ask, what are the white-ish lines (for lack of a better word) along the inner seams that I see in these bags? You can see them in the fourth photo of the link I posted,

They often shave the nap off the back of the leather in order to make it somewhat thinner and make it easier to sew through the layers of leather.

Thanks BeenBurned! With the seller digging in her heels I don’t know if I’m comfortable referring her here. I just don’t want her to start attacking you or hyacinth.

LOL! I'm not too concerned. This isn't a case of an item that's questionable or that authenticity can't be confirmed. The bag is without-a-doubt fake and if she wants to be an honest seller of authentic items, she needs to be open to admitting mistakes and learning from them.

Hi there,

Can anyone please tell me whether this logo is authentic? I haven't seen it before. Unfortunately the seller hasn't listed any further details about the bag or more photos. I've asked for lots more pictures but not sure whether to bother following up if you can tell that the logo isn't authentic.
