IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Although we aren't allowed to promote our own items, it's my understanding that if there's a question of authenticity of one of our own items, we're allowed to post it here. I received a message from a buyer who wants to return a bag.

Her comment was "Why would you think this is a Coach purse? Its not. I need to return it please. This has no characteristics of a Coach, and the tag doesnt belong on this purse, the inside is different the leather is different sorry need to return it."

If it's a remorse return, I have no issue with accepting but to be accused of either selling a fake or using a hangtag to imply "Coach" is painful.

If it's reassurance she wants, perhaps a look here by the other authenticators will give her comfort. (I did respond to the dispute, even showing other listings for the same bag including one of the same color with the same hangtag.)

Please help verify. TIA.
It's definitely authentic. There's a NWT one on ebay that might reassure her:
Good luck!

Thank you. I do know it's authentic and I want to offer reassurance to the buyer if authenticity and/or if the bag is Coach is really the concern.

Some buyers aren't aware that some Coach items (a bags, wallets, coin purses, wristlets) may not have any markings on the actual item and there are times that the hangtag (which is removable, replaceable or even addable(?)) might be the only thing with Coach labeling.

In this case, the "made in" tag is also indicative of Coach although made in tags vary depending on style and era and also, can be copied by fakers. (Though that's not happening in this instance.)

Mine was the ended listing. Does this bring up the listing?

Yes it does. I can't help with authenticating it though since the photos won't enlarge for me, and I don't have any photos or info on it in my files. Even the "hover to zoom" isn't working. From the style number it seems to be around 9 or 10 years old so it's newer than the time period that I'm comfortable with, sorry.

Hi experts

I just won this auction. Could you please check if the bag is authentic? I’d like to be sure before paying to avoid issues. Thanks a lot!!

Your post shows one of the reasons why authentication requests require seller ID and item number. We want to be sure we're verifying the correct item.

In this case, because a listing has ended, the ended/sold listing shows on the top of the page as "The listing you're looking for has ended" and a different listing from a different seller shows below it.

I believe you're asking about this one:
Seller: quikchevyz71
Item number: 204055977896
Link: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Vintage-Nav...m43663.l10137&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true

The bag is fake so if you haven't paid, DO NOT!!

Oh I am so sorry for missing the info and thank you so much for doing the work to check.

And thank you for the authentication. I haven’t paid yet. How do I let eBay know that the bag is fake? (And therefore I’ll not be paying)

Sorry, it's fake. The font used for the serial number isn't right, and there's a problem with the turnlock and with the strap grommets as well. The flap also looks a bit too long, but the incorrect font is considered absolute proof.

You can let the seller know why you won't be paying. I'm sure that after being posted here as fake, it'll be reported and hopefully removed.

Thank you! I just messaged the seller and would also like to report it. However ebay requires a brief description - could I say that it’s been checked by the authenticators on this site? Thanks so much for your help!!

Just to add a few more photos- here is a genuine creed and serial with a date code only a month away from what's in the fake, and a photo of the indented turnlock back:

The bag is authentic, made in 1998.

We really can't advise on price since there are so many variables such as color, demand, condition, availability, etc. An item is worth what a willing buyer thinks it's worth.

I recommend searching various sites to see what the same style, color and similar condition bags have sold for.
Thank you B.B. Great info, very helpful. I will do that now. Much appreciated!

Nope, seller didn't remove the listing. Ebay removed it. (When a seller ends a listing, you can open it. It'll say something to the effect of "the listing was ended early by the seller because it's not available" or "because of an error in the listing." When ebay removes a listing, it comes up as not found.)

Would it help if I posted pictures?
