Seller and site where listed: kimberryshop (Malaysia)/ lux_collections (Singapore) on Carousell

Comments: Bought this Coach bag on Carousell and seller insists its authentic even though there are errors in the creed patch spelling. Just wanted to get an authentication check and also raise awareness on this seller. She claimed her bag is from coach outlet and therefore its normal to have errors in the creed patch. Is this true?

The nonsense double talk coming from Authentic Shop@kimberryshop is a huge red flag.

I'm not feeling too confident about it, the creed isn't quite as clear as I'd like and I'd like to see the reverse side of the price tag. Although we don't determine authenticity solely based on the tag, it's a useful tool and can give insight.

This is the clearest I could get of the creed patch. I spotted a few spelling errors. Will outlet coach bags ever have spelling errors in the creed patch?

Her comment that " its normal to have errors in the creed patch" is a complete LIE. Get your money back.

Unfortunately the seller has cited a no refund policy and claimed her bag is authentic because it is common for outlet bags to have errors in the creed patches. So i am just gonna name her shop here for awareness so others don't get scammed.

She is selling multiple Coach products btw, and claims to be an authentic Coach reseller.

As Hyacinth said, it's a total lie that it's "normal" to have spelling errors on outlet (or any) Coach bags. While Coach does make an occasional mistake, there's nothing normal about errors.

Am I reading "artworx" on the creed or is that an illusion? What other spelling errors are you seeing?

ETA: How did you pay for the bag? If you used a c.c. or paypal or other service that offers buyer protection, you have that to fall back on.

The spelling errors I spotted are the 'Jean Michel Basquiat' at the top spelled as 'ean-Mgel Basqlat' as well as the 'artworx'. The Jean Michel Basquiat just seems to be very bad printing overall, the print is merged so much together its almost indecipherable.

I paid using bank transfer as requested by the seller :/ thinking back that was a stupid move.

She's lying about EVERYTHING.

Coach outlet items made under license with another company or organization such as Disney or Basquiat or any other company's trademark use creed stamps made in very small numbers and provided BY COACH. They are NOT made in some shack somewhere by 12-year old children who cannot spell or understand the significance of that artist's or company's name, such as "BASQUIAT". A creed stamp with such a bad mis-spelling would never have been made by Coach and would never have been sent by Coach to any of their manufacturing plants.

The market seems to be flooded right now with Basquiat fakes. I would strongly urge anyone who wants to buy any of the GENUINE items from this or any other artistic collaboration to ONLY buy directly from an actual Coach store and if possible, ONLY if you are in the actual store when buying it. Do NOT buy from online sellers unless you have the item authenticated here first, and if there is any doubt that the item is authentic, DO NOT BUY.

Almost all of the photos I am seeing of this style look like they're all from the same source and with the same problems including the same photos of the inside where the creed isn't even readable.

It's almost impossible to find what I am almost sure is a genuine creed from a Basquiat item, but I think this may be one of the few even though it's from a different style. I'm NOT completely sure but I don't have any proven genuine Basquiat creeds in my files. (If any tPF members who bought a Basquiat bag with a full creed DIRECTLY from a Coach store could post a clear close-up of a 100 percent genuine creed and serial number it would be very much appreciated.)

And here's a close-up of the fake creed for comparison:

Please notice that you can clearly read Jean-Michel Basquiat's name, CORRECTLY spelled, "artwork" correctly spelled, and "LICENSED BY ARTESTAR", the name of the licensing company in New York City that owns the rights to his and other modern artists' works and licenses them to be reproduced by other companies like Coach. I can ABSOLUTELY promise you that a licensing company especially one with a client list like Artestar would NEVER allow works by one of its artists to be sold without the correct READABLE licensing information including the correct spelling of the artist's name.

ETA - One possible Coach mistake that I've seen on EVERY Basquiat creed so far has been a mistake in the placement of the hyphen in his name. Even when it's correctly hyphenated "Jean-Michel Basquiat" at the top of the creed, lower down in the body every one, even in creeds with no other mistakes, says "Jean Michel-Basquiat". On some creeds it may have been a space issue since Jean and Michel are on two different lines in the creed, but that's not the case on all of them. @BeenBurned, if you do any digging into the creeds, please let me know if you find the same mistake. I checked Artestar's site and it's definitely "Jean-Michel"

Maybe someone at Coach simply screwed up, but I'm hoping that we'll hear from a regular tPFer who can verify that they bought theirs directly from Coach and can include photos of the full creed patch and serial number. Thanks!

Okay. If artwork has an "x" it's definitely fake. That's a mistake that Coach doesn't make! I wasn't sure whether I just wasn't seeing the "J" in "Jean."

Return, dispute, file a report on the seller to Carousel (if they do anything to dishonest sellers) and if necessary, refer the seller here.

I'm curious. Is that particular seller in the Philippines or somewhere else?
