Wow. Okay. Thanks for your quick reply.

I read a 7 digit number is from the 1980's.
So the font is the clue? I guess I did not see any difference in the font compared to others I own.

At the time, I called Coach to register it. And just today I discovered that Coach does not verify authenticity, even if they register it.

Thanks again.

I'm not sure where you're getting that information from but it's not completely accurate.

Coach has used 7-digit serial or registration numbers from around 1980 to around 2005. They have changed the content and format of the numbers many times but with a few exceptions they've used "7-digit" serial numbers or even 6 or 8 digits in very rare examples. And so have the makers of counterfeit Coaches. The number stamped in a "Coach" can never prove by itself that the item is genuine, it's the physical details of a number that help us do that.

Coach only actually "registered" serial numbers up until 1994. After that, the number format changed and hundreds of bags could have the same serial number since it was made up of factory production codes instead of random numbers so "registering" a number became useless. Coach just kept using the "registration cards" only to add buyer names to their mailing lists, up until around 2005-06. "Registering" a number was never used to prove authenticity, it was initially just used to register the warranty back when each Coach bag had a unique serial or "registration number".

Coach has posted on their websites for at least the last 15 years that they and their employees do not verify authenticity, they are forbidden to do so by company policy even in their stores. When they were still headquartered in New York City they had an in-house service that would authenticate some items for a fee but they needed to physically see the item. That service also ended at least 15 years ago. The only way to authenticate any Coach now is to have it examined by competent authenticators from accurate photographs of specific details, and competent authenticators are extremely scarce. Many if not most people or services who call themselves authenticators couldn't authenticate their way out of a paper bag and have no idea what details to look for and no photo libraries to compare to genuine or fake examples.

Serial numbers are a very complicated subject and gone into detail in the Salarea Guides posted in this forum:

Both are genuine, the Willis was made in 1996 and the Court Bag in 1998.

Dear Authenticators, could you please evaluate this bag on Ebay for me? I purchased it last night having fallen in love with the style and colour. It appears fine, but your input is much appreciated! Many thanks for the incredible work you do as volunteers!!! :hugs:

Thank you so much for your time and expertise!

I've numbered your items to make it simpler.

1- I don't do newer styles, please wait for one of the authenticators who does

2- genuine Court Bag, 1998
and in answer to your question-
"Do you guys tend to trust those listing with authentication certificates?"
NO! Especially Entrupy! there are dozens of posts in these forums, across ALL major brands, where Entrupy has gotten it really WRONG.

3- genuine Pocket Purse from 1998

4- The creed and serial number are completely unreadable and it can't be authenticated. The wrinkles on the outside of the base are also cause for concern.

5- genuine Willis Bag from 1996

Can you please tell me if this bag is authentic? I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much in advance.

A client was given this bag by her daughter who has since passed away. Measurements: 18" across the top, 14" across the bottom, 10" height, 5" side (bottom).

Just making sure my post is not overlooked/buried. It is on the previous page (4807); the red one. Thanks!

The best way to Bump an unanswered post is to use the REPLY button to bring the entire post including any links forward. I don't do newer styles, please wait for someone who does.
