Item: Green Coach, I think it’s Devon?

Where purchased or how obtained
Comments: Poshmark - I took a chance and bought it without seeing the creed.

This bag looks ok to me but the space after “cowhide. The” seems spread out. I’m probably over thinking it.
I appreciate the help! Thank you!

Hi Authenticators - I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this one:
Item: Coach court with nickel hardware from 2000
Listing number:
Seller and site where listed - poshmark
Link: https://poshmark.com/listing/Vintag...-Convertible-Satchel-621158e493649fe417f24823
Comments: Did coach change the construction of the front of the court bag in 2000? Or is this a fake? I'm confused by the front rising up instead of being even with the rest of the top of the bag. Also - the nickel hardware is nearly completely worn down on this bag. Is this well-loved wear, or a sign of cheap metal and also an indicator of being a fake? Otherwise, the rest of the construction is immaculate, the leather is like buttah and it feels and looks authentic - but I'm confused by the hardware and the seam. Even the strap hardware looks chewed up.

Thank you so much for your help.

Coach DID change the design of the front of the Court Bag at least once in the late 1990s, if you mean the part under the flap. The late '90s were also the first years for nickel-color hardware for handbags and there may have been some issues. We've seen those "wear marks" before that look like indentations where the clips rub against the tops of the D-rings and wear down the metal.

The bag itself is genuine, made in 2000.

You're asking the right person, I'm the Authentication thread Expert on overthinking things.

Creed stamps changed constantly, there was no such thing as a "standard" stamp once Coach started adding plants to the original one in NYC. The ONLY time that creed stamps can come close to being compared is between bags made in the same plant, month and year, with the same style number and the same kind of lining or no lining. And sometimes even stamps from the same month could be different. Serial number stamp details changed almost as often. The closer things got to the end of production in the Western Hemisphere the more modifications we see in both types of stamps. That's why it takes an experienced authenticator to tell the diffferance between real and fake.

And yes, it's s Devon Bag, early 1990s

Thank you so much for clarifying that design change under the flap! And from the looks of this bag, I'd have to agree with the suggestion of there may have been some issues with the hardware.

Congratulations to you for noticing the design change! I believe it changed around 1999. Several years ago I wrote a post about it.

ETA: We've seen the wear in the rings before on both brass and nickel.

Thank you! You are amazing. I’m excited to clean this one!

@Clicky

I found one of @whateve's posts about the change in the top of the Court Bag in 1999. The Ebay listing she referred to in her post is long gone but I saved one of the photos. She was actually referring to a fake someone had asked about but the pictures she referred to (including the black one below) when talking about that small design change were of a genuine Court Bag. Here's a visual comparison of how they were changed in 1999, the Jade color example is the early configuration, probably 1995, and the black one is the new 1999 change. It's small but easy to spot if you know what to look for.

Her 2014 post:

the "early" version:

the 1999 change to a rounded corner:

Thanks, Whateve!
