I'm sorry, but it's fake, The Coach logo above the creed has a problem, and the "S" plant code is invalid not just for the month and year but even the COUNTRY where it was supposedly made. There are other problems too, but there's no question that it's fake. Whateve has already pointed out several other problems.

If you already bought it or paid for it, get your money back.

Here is a GENUINE creed and serial number with an E5S- prefix, note the country of manufacture. That plant in 1995 made only business and travel bags and luggage:

Wow! Thank you for being so thorough! This is all new to me lol. I’ve learned a lot. So crazy to me that people went through so much detail to make these fake ones!! Thanks again for your time explaining to me. Maybe someday I’ll get lucky and find a real one! Until then, I’m out $20 and have myself an average bucket bag lol.

Is this item really authentic?
I should asked here before buying. received a plastic pouch and Poshmark sided with the seller.
It's fake. If PM won't give you your money back, I would open up a credit card or Paypal dispute.

1- is a genuine Spencer Brief made in 1994.

2- is a genuine Spencer Brief made in 1995.

The letter "i"is supposed to be omitted from the month codes but sometimes a plant would make a mistake and include it. And a few bags even were made with "N" month codes. Some items with codes that aren't supposed to be used are fakes, and some are simply plant mistakes. ALL Coaches should be authenticated but it's especially important with items that have what seem to be mistakes.

The "target" mark does NOT in most instances indicate a "second". It could mean a discontinued style or overstock that was being sent to the outlets, or it could mean a style or production run deliberately and specifically made for the Factory Outlet Stores. Or it could mean an item with some kind of minor production mistake (like an incorrect month code).

Thank you, Whateve! I'm SO excited for this one! I'm buying for my own personal collection and use and the intent was to use but truth be told I haven't decided yet since it's such a gem! Now I'm thinking of buying a second for use and keeping this one on my display shelf in all its glory, lol! No tags cut since 1994 (if I'm not mistaken)?!? I'm so curious about who had it and how it ended up at Goodwill.

You should ALWAYS have items on Poshmark authenticated before buying! Poshmark is notorious for not only allowing fakes to be sold on their site, but allowing random, completely unqualified sellers to "authenticate" items like that one, and then as you've already experienced, claiming a fake is genuine and often refusing flat out to issue a refund, and just as often that a genuine item is fake. That's one very good reason why one of our authenticators won't even look at their listings presented here for authentication.

That's also why, in over 15 year of buying vintage Coach items online, I personally have only bought ONE item from Poshmark which I very carefully authenticated myself. They have probably sold hundreds, maybe thousands of counterfeit "Coaches" over the years, plus heaven only knows how many fakes of other brands. Anyone who buys highly faked brands from them is going to get ripped off sooner or later, and probably sooner.

Thank you so much. Lesson learned. I think I'm going to take a break from buying and just delete the Poshmark app. It’s not worth it. I’ll look for the class action in the mail to join it.

NOTE TO EVERYONE! Please include seller ID in every request.

Poshmark seller
luxbinfound

@coachowe
Please don't accept this fake as a "lesson" and don't accept losing your money! Open a dispute and if necessary, fight for the refund.

It won't hurt to post on the listing that the item is fake. Let others know that luxbinfound sells fakes.

I want to make a small clarification of @Hyacinth's comment saying, "That's one very good reason why one of our authenticators won't even look at their listings presented here for authentication."

It is true that I don't authenticate, recommend, promote or do business with Poshmark but I do look at listings that are posted for authentication.

The reason I check listings is because I find that many sellers are mixers, listing a combination of fakes among other listings of authentic items.

The problem is that mixers are more dangerous than sellers (and sites) consisting of all fakes. There's a sense of trust in sellers who have an item deemed authentic and buyers assume it's an honest seller.

Like so many others, luxbinfound has other fakes as well as the one that coachowe purchased.
