Ask in the rehab club. I think you could get someone to sew on rings and then you could use any clip on strap. You could possibly use the leather of the strap to make the tabs to hold the rings.

Another thing you could do is put some casings inside the flap to hold a strap, similar to this picture:

You could cut the current strap in half and then attach the ends to a chain, making a chain strap.
Great ideas thanks so much!

Got two Goodwill buys today here in Arizona.
One is a possible Black leather Taft, but I am not certain. It measures 12.5 across and 9 inches vertically.
Second is a brown bag that resembles the Wendie, but I couldn’t find anything under the serial number. This measures about 11 inches across and 7 inches vertically.

Editing to add pic of serial number as I haven't seen any responses to my inquiry. It says "No B2178-2712." Can anyone help?

The black one is fake. The brown is okay.

It looks okay. (Other opinions are welcome.)

Next time, try to upload so the picture is larger.

The brown one has a unique serial number that has no relation to the style number. I think it is a swinger #4040 from the Lightweights collection, made in the late 80s or early 90s.
