Hello, could you help me authenticate this bag? I have tried to do it myself, but I can't find this model

ITEM: Coach bag
WHERE PURCHASED /OBTAINED: from my aunt/ she got it at the thrift store a long time ago
COMMENTS: I think it might be genuine because it looks really good, but I have no idea/ I couldn't find this model online. Could you suggest the name of this model? Is it a baguette bag?

Seller 2013tress

Genuine, but please note that the strap has been cut down and modified. The buckle is much too close to the center of the strap and the end of the strap is coming apart because ot wasn't properly sewn after it was cut, see the 4th photo. The leather "keeper" near the buckle is also a replacement. I don't have any idea what length the strap actually is now but it looks like it's much shorter than the original 48 inches.

It looks good, from 1996

I'm curious who you used to authenticate it. (ETA: 2 authenticators? And they didn't see the problem?)

It's not inconclusive. I see a common misspelling on the creed and can confirm that the bag is fake. SCRTCHES

If an authenticator or someone who knows the brand sees enough items, there are certain details they CAN see and recognize, even in a rubbed creed and/or a blurry picture! They should have seen it.

IMO, matthew_opal owes you a refund and if he's decent, will reimburse your authentication cost. (Or maybe the authenticator will reimburse since they goofed. This is clearly a mistake that a professional authentication service with Coach specialist(s) should have recognized.)

If you have the bag in your possession, you might be able to get a clearer and more legible picture of the creed text. View attachment 5332659
The company reimbursed my fee for the authentication. I believe it was out of their wheelhouse as they do more luxury items and sneakers. They definitely did the right thing. I couldn’t read the creed myself but the biggest red flags to me was the hardware on the strap and the indentation. I can definitely see the word scrtches now. Thank you!

I was only looking at genuine creeds, I should have dug a bit deeper.

There are some genuine creeds that are sort-of indented, maybe the width of half a letter or less, but on this one it's MAJOR.
That is exactly one of the issues I saw late last night too have a bit. I couldn’t read the creed fully to see the word scrtches but I did notice that. Thanks for pointing it out and comparing other fakes.

Hello, all! Happy Sunday.

I'm looking into replacement hang tags and am wondering about IDing fakes. This Poshmark listing from 1prettybird2, for example, has 3 to choose from, but I don't know where to begin evaluating whether it's worth spending money on any listing's tags, let alone this one's. Apologies if there's a resource for this somewhere that I've missed...

The listing:

Thanks, as always. :)

BOTH of them are fake, both serial numbers are invalid.

Thanks, Hyacinth. That's exactly what I thought, but I couldn't figure out why the listings were still there. I had reported both more than once to no effect, so I was starting to wonder if maybe I were wrong after all. Perhaps Mercari's just slow to react? I don't know, but both bags are low-priced and liked by a number of people. I hope none of them get scammed..

Hello, two requests for authentication at your convenience please, and a question. Thank you!

Item: shoulder bag, not sure of style

Seller and site where listed

Comments: The pictures aren't great on this, and there wasn't much of a description.

Question: I have a dinky bag in British Tan that I purchased decades ago at a retail store myself as a teen (I can still remember the thrill of that purchase and the smell of the store, which was mostly/all leather bags!). The creed and the numbers on it were never deeply imprinted and now are quite faded. While I don't have a particular interest in selling or trading it at all right now, I am thinking that if I do at some point, it will be deemed a fake due to this issue. Should I be at all concerned?

Wondering if either of these two JRT keychains are genuine - I've not seen the signature "coat" on the dog before. When I search, there is one noted in the Fake Hall of Fame thread, but it's so old, I am only guessing based on the url address details that it was a similar style since the links are no longer valid. I'm guessing these are fake, but just want to be sure.

Thank you in advance!
