For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock

  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Both bags are genuine but the seller did send you a different Soho Bag than the one in the listing photos.

Coach started making silver-color hardware available on the Soho line gradually through 1997. I think Black was available in either color towards the end of the year. If you wanted the Brass hardware you need to contact the seller and explain that was the one you wanted.
Thanks so much Hyacinth! I will contact the seller. I do prefer the brass hardware but I’m also cognizant of the shipping costs… I’ll see what she thinks. Thanks again!
You got a different item than what you purchased and than what was pictured in the listing.

The return shipping costs aren't your problem.

I recommend first contacting the seller, lanina54 to tell her that you want to return it. If she isn't willing to send you a prepaid shipping label (at her expense) and after receiving the return, issuing a full refund, you should go to the transaction and open a dispute.

It's shown on ebay as a return request and you should choose that the item is not as shown or described in the listing. For NAD (not as described), seller must accept the return and pay for return shipping. Once tracking shows delivery to her, she either issues a full refund or you can escalate and have ebay issue the refund.

you won't be out any money.

Please forgive me. I’m not sure how this all works yet. I’m new here! I don’t have any info for this bag but it resembles the mini however it has hardware on the strap connecting it to the bag. I’ve paid a site to authenticate it just now and then saw this thread while I was searching through old catalogs. The creed is half worn off. I’ll report back from the authenticator I hired but was curious what anyone else thought. Thanks!

Update: the site I paid to authenticate this bag was inconclusive. They had 2 authenticators on it.

Possible coach wallet found in a bin at a local goodwill for a dollar. Thought I made a good find, but upon closer inspection I'm hesitant to post it on my poshmark page. It's the feel more than anything else. Doesn't have thick leather feel I'd expect. And the label seems a bit oddly placed as well.

I'm curious who you used to authenticate it. (ETA: 2 authenticators? And they didn't see the problem?)

It's not inconclusive. I see a common misspelling on the creed and can confirm that the bag is fake. SCRTCHES

If an authenticator or someone who knows the brand sees enough items, there are certain details they CAN see and recognize, even in a rubbed creed and/or a blurry picture! They should have seen it.

IMO, matthew_opal owes you a refund and if he's decent, will reimburse your authentication cost. (Or maybe the authenticator will reimburse since they goofed. This is clearly a mistake that a professional authentication service with Coach specialist(s) should have recognized.)

If you have the bag in your possession, you might be able to get a clearer and more legible picture of the creed text. matthew_opal poshmark fake creed SCRTCHES.png

It's a problem because there's no lower half of the creed and serial number stamping. But even though there were serveral slightly different versions of the early 1990s Mini Bag, I think all of them had a permanently attached tubular strap except for the Belt Bag versions. And except for the Dakotas and Sheridans I can't think of ANY vintage Coach handbags, large OR small, that had straps that used rivets on the ends. Coach bags were so well-made that they didn't need any reinforcements like that. (Sheridans and Dakotas used stiffer thicker leathers in those areas, and I think the rivets also added to the design details - JMO)

I'm going to say Fake. The wonky crooked underflap pocket is a problem too but those rivets just ain't right.

@fosterjenni
I see another problem with the creed that's easier to spot. The first line is INDENTED, as if it was a new paragraph. There are NO OTHER late 1980s thru 1990s creed photos in my files with that detail.

ETA - I'm also curious about the TWO authenticators. Who were they, or what sites tried to authenticate it?

Thanks so much for your input, BeenBurned! I figured I shouldn’t be out any money but I do feel bad for the seller. It’s unfortunate that I’m just not into the nickel hardware. I contacted the seller yesterday and she said she’d get back to me today. Hopefully this will be a simple process. Thanks again!

Hello, could you help me authenticate this bag? I have tried to do it myself, but I can't find this model

ITEM: Coach bag
WHERE PURCHASED /OBTAINED: from my aunt/ she got it at the thrift store a long time ago
COMMENTS: I think it might be genuine because it looks really good, but I have no idea/ I couldn't find this model online. Could you suggest the name of this model? Is it a baguette type of bag?
