Genuine. And it may be a bit unusual in that it was made in the early 1990s. It may be a Retro Slim Satchel Compact, style 9425 and made in 1991 as part of Coach's 50th Anniversary Retro Collection. There were no special creeds or style numbers for items in that collection so that's just an educated guess. There was also a 1993 re-re-release, so it could be either one since both used the same style number as the original version. I'm going to err on the side of caution and say that it's probably the 1993 version.

Here's the 1993 catalog page, click on the thumbnail to enlarge:

Thanks so much! Does the brass vs. silvertone hardware make a difference in determining the year? I’m still doing a doubletake when it isn’t brass (or all leather, for that matter!).

Good morning Authenticators. I had two listings removed from eBay. May I please have authentications and some help? I'll post one at a time to lessen confusion. These are from my collection.

First item: Kimball Zip
The hangtag is not original and I stated such in the listing.
Next item that was removed was my #9994 backpack with the recreated cinch, which I stated in the listing - "cinch is not authentic and was recreated due to being lost.."

Again, this is from my collection.

Here is the email from eBay for both listings:

"We had to remove your listing because it didn’t follow our Counterfeit item policy. We don’t allow counterfeit items, replicas, or unauthorized copies.
What activity didn't follow the policy
- Limited selling history
What you need to do next
Items removed for this policy cannot be relisted. Please ensure that your future listings are for authentic items only. For these items, they should be described accurately and completely, so buyers know that it is an authentic item.
What is the policy
- Counterfeit products are illegal and not allowed on eBay. Examples include:
-- Fakes, copies or replicas of brand name items (for example, a shoe with the Nike name or logo that wasn’t made by Nike)
-- Electronics or accessories that use or bear the brand name, logo or trademark of a company that didn’t manufacture the item
-- Bootleg recordings from concerts or other live shows
-- Unauthorized or pirated copies of movies, videos or software
- Listings with photos that hide or blur trademarks are not allowed
- If you’re not certain that your item is authentic, or if an authenticator has been unable to confirm its authenticity, it may not be listed
- We may remove listings if we receive buyer complaints that the item is not authentic. These items may not be relisted
How this affects your account
Because you may not have been aware of this policy, we're sending this notice to educate you about it and ask that you follow this policy in the future.

- Listings that didn't follow this policy have been ended.
- We have credited all associated fees except for payments processing fees and the final value fee for your listing(s).

Listings that don't follow this policy in the future will be ended.
Why we have this policy

This policy prevents the sale of counterfeit items, which are illegal, and could expose sellers to legal risk. Removing them protects sellers and their buyers from buyer protection claims and financial loss.

Both bags are genuine.

Just curious - are you a member of any private Facebook Groups focused on Coach? And if you are, is your username on those sites similar to your ID here at tPF? You don't have to answer but if you are, it might help explain things. Or is your Ebay ID similar to your tPF ID?

Wait for advice on how to handle this from @BeenBurned.
My eBay username is the same as here, both accounts (eBay and TPF) were set up over ten years ago. When I started selling on eBay, I thought keeping the transparency was a good thing. I’ve thought about creating a new ID here but, why do I have to hide or change? I’m not doing anything wrong. If someone buys from me and does a search for me here, I want the buyer to know that the bag they purchase was cared for and that authenticity is of the utmost of importance.

I am not a part of any Facebook groups focused on Coach. Dale did invite me but there’s no way in hell I want anything to do with him or his group(s).

Drama and handbags should never mix.
Forgot to say the most important thing.. thank you Hyacinth for your time in authenticating!
@Hoku44

I'm so sorry you (and a couple of other TPFers) are going through this and finding your authentic items being reported and removed. And in case other posters (and lurkers) aren't aware, this isn't their first rodeo with you or with the others. And sadly, when it isn't the first time you've been through this, it sure looks like a vendetta.

There comes a time when I wonder whether legal action against a perp or a strongly worded letter from an attorney might rattle some cages. This interference is against ebay rules and why action isn't being taken is beyond me. Although privacy concerns and ebay policy disallow disclosure of identification and actions taken, they should be doing something!

If necessary, a professional COA can add credibility to your listing but in cases like these, I don't think the expense is necessary.

Two suggestions in the event that bots are finding triggers:
1. If your statement of ""cinch is not authentic and was recreated due to being lost" was written in the listing as you described, I wonder if the bots picked up "not authentic" and triggered the removal. Instead, I recommend saying something along the lines of, "the original cinch was misplaced and replaced by a strap not made by Coach."
2. For the hang tag, something along the lines of "original hangtag was lost and has been replaced."

Let me "think" about this for a while.

Someone(s) needs to grow up!

I agree with @BeenBurned. It's been my experience with ebay that a bot will often initiate a removal, usually triggered by a random word or two. I'd specify that my item was recently authenticated on The Purse Forum and I'd change the wording in the listings to remove any idea of anything not being authentic. Think about what might trigger a bot.

Very valid points and that seems more feasible then a "vendetta". Thank you for mentioning. I changed the wording.

Silvertone hardware wasn't used until 1997. I had one vintage bag that I had subjected to chemicals that stripped the brass plating so it appeared to have silver hardware. The bag you posted appears to have brass or brass plated hardware. It also appears to be all leather. We usually use the creed to determine the age of a bag. Your bag has a creed that indicates it was made in the early 90s, before 1994.

I'd like to suggest a correction. I don't believe it is a slim satchel compact. I believe it is a slim satchel #9430. This picture shows the difference between the two.

Thanks for the correction. I was more concerned with fitting it in to the correct time period than anything else. I'm glad you have so much experience with those styles.

Giving this one a BUMP, it apparently got overlooked. @whateve is probably the best person to confirm your identification. All I'm sure of is that it's genuine. Dates or style names in early bags with no date codes or serial numbers are not within my comfort zone.

Thank you so much authenticators and for the authentication above!

Both are authentic. Yes, FS means final sale.
