IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

That padded area in the leather tab above the turnlock isn't the correct shape and is not padded well, and it looks like the creed stamp on the inside pocket is seriously off-center. The center seam on the bottom panel, as long as the seam itself is centered correctly, should line up with the center of the creed stamp, but in this one it doesn't. The creed should be in the top center of the pocket. But the incorrect serial font is the smoking gun.

To back up what we keep saying - have Coach items authenticated BEFORE you buy. If you had done that, we would have spotted that fake serial number font immediately and told you it was fake. It's much easier authenticating something before you buy than it is trying to get your money back once it's paid for and delivered.
It’s my very first Coach. Since the start of the pandemic, I’ve been dabbling in rehabbing old bags. I’ve even painted a few and sold them (not designer brands). I never imagined that Coach bags were counterfeited, I thought that was only higher end bags like Chanel and Louis Vuitton. I didn’t even know this page existed, I was referred here by some women on Facebook in another handbag group. You’ve been very helpful, I won’t make this mistake again! What I find most bizarre about this is the high quality of materials that were used in this counterfeit bag, I thought a counterfeit bag would feel cheap and look cheap in this one does not.

Some counterfeits ARE very badly made, even today when many fakes especially of the luxury brands are so close that sometimes even experts can't spot the fakes. Never assume that all fakes look like those cheap plastic nightmares that guys sell out of their car trunks outside flea markets and golf courses. Counterfeiting is a multi-billion dollar business. Official figures have stated that the counterfeits market is at least 5 percent of China's total GNP (sorry if I'm using the wrong term, it's been more than 50 years since I sat at a school desk or cracked a textbook) so if the official records say 5 percent, the actual number is probably double that. And that's JUST China. Fakes are also a major industry in many SE Asia countries, Korea, the Philippines, and much of the former Soviet Union.

That's why we urge everyone to have Coach or any name brand items authenticated before buying. There's a LOT to analyze when authenticating, and it's not a job for someone who does nothing more than check the internet to see if they can find a similar item with the same serial number.

BTW, we have a great Coach Rehab And Rescue Forum here where you can get a gazillion recommendations for rehab products, methods, and great advice for bringing a tired Coach back to life. Just skimming through the thread for some of the Before and After photos should give you plenty of inspiration. And there are even more posts in the Archives. Hello Authenticators!

Could you please check this bag that I purchased.

Item: Coach vintage trail bag 9965
Where purchased: Etsy
Seller:newfortunes
link:https://www.etsy.com/listing/113454...how_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_details
Comments: is this the glacier color from 1997?

thank you in advance.

It's not a Trail Bag, it's a genuine Legacy Small Flap. I don't have any record in any 1997 or early 1998 catalog of a color called Glacier or Glacier Blue. If it was an Outlet, Resort or limited availability color it's not in any of my records.

Good morning, all. I'm curious about these two duffle sacs. I know that the red can vary from year to year and I'm trying to figure out how the red bag differs from the red I have. I have two yellows, both of which have marks. I think that's what happens to such a light color so I'm trying to figure if this one would be a step up or a lateral move. Also, I've never purchased from a seller in Japan. Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Please authenticate the following bag that I found at my local goodwill. Thank you.

Item: Coach Signature Floral Bumble Bee Flower Applique Swingpack F10872

It's authentic, made in 2006 and the style name is along the lines of signature bumble bee appliqued swingpack.

Both are authentic. The yellow is 1998 and the red is 1997.

Thank you Hyacinth, for your time and for letting me know the correct name of the bag. I look forward to get the mystery blue legacy small flap.

I have that bag in brown and I love it. It is just the right size. Your bag is a beautiful color. Enjoy.
