Hi - A potential buyer asked me if my listing was authentic and I sent here "here" to submit it and also to submit anything else in the future so she can learn.
Seller: boristhekat (myself)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-PINK-...p-Handle-Pouch-Handbag-NEW-/151696714898?This
This was her response:

"I did as you suggested. Thank you for the site. Unfortunately the site claims the bag to not authentic. Something about the outside pattern and no serial numbers inside. I would like to retract my bid. Thank you."

I do not see anything where it was submitted, am I missing something or
is this person just fibbing?
I know we are not supposed to submit our own listings, but under the circumstances I hope you understand.....:flowers:
And of course, is my bag authentic?http://forum.purseblog.com//www.pinterest.com/pin/create/extension/

Woo hoo! Thanks, Whateve :smile1: Usually I see buckles with the middle cross piece attached to the back so there's kind of a notch on it. This one is just completely flat.
You're right. Nearly every duffle sac I've looked at has that kind of buckle. I have only one in my files that has the same buckle as yours. Mine has a circa 1989 creed. I wonder if there was a short period of time when they used different hardware? Mine has different rivets than yours and the pocket leather was normal. I'm absolutely sure mine was authentic.

Your buyer never came here. We wouldn't have said anything about no serial numbers in a pouch. If I were you, I would cancel her bid and block her. She has already proven she is a liar.

The bag in the listing is fine.

I'd love to have you ask her to post the link to the website that deemed that bag as fake. There are other websites that claim authentication expertise but have little expertise!

In fact, I recommend that you send her this link:

Within minutes of my posting this, the bag sold. Grrr, I have longed for one of these. I have noticed that some people authenticate after their purchase. While I sure it is not recommended, I am wondering if that is the way to go.
Thanks for listening!
Aaaw, sorry you didn't get it, I was going to congratulate you on a great deal. I confess I have bought or made an offer on a bag prior to authenticating (See my post above!!). Not a lot, but because I go after the great deals I don't want to get scooped. I also use a sniping service for auctions. I have been successful nearly 95% of the time because I lower the time to make a bid to the bare minimum so it's more difficult for someone to outbid me in the last seconds. I don't know if it makes you feel any better but it was a Copley not a Kelly bag.

Comments: Is this authentic?

Sorry, it's almost impossible to say for sure because there aren't any distinguishing details other than the stamp on the bottom, and any counterfeiter can copy a Coach stamp. And it's a style that Coach probably made in dozens of different versions and fabrics.

All I can say is that there's no OBVIOUS sign of it being fake, but there's no way I can authenticate it for certain.

Thank you for you time! I might just pass then.

Waiting until after you've won an auction is probably the safest way if you're worried about a deal getting snapped out from under you by someone reading these boards. You just have to be willing to risk a few Non-Paying Bidder strikes from Ebay if the bag turns out to be fake. And like Fuzzy, I'm a firm believer in sniping.

And NO, I'm not the person who won that auction, just to make that very clear! :D

Fuzzymummy and Hyacinth, thanks for your kind words and sage advice. I sometimes feel like a lamb in a pack of wolves. But a deep breath and a reminder that this is for a luxury item not a necessity and that brings me back to reality (too zen?) and prepares me to continue the hunt (that is half the fun, isn't it?).
Happy weekend to you!

It's authentic. You don't see them that frequently!

You might want to take the seller's feedback into account.

Although there's aren't any accusations that she has sold fakes, there are several comments in feedback as well as responses to those feedbacks that imply that customer service skills are lacking. ;)

Additionally, I'm not comfortable with the koi fish charm she sold.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Gold-...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Her Koi Charm was fake. The body narrows too much above the tail, many of the small details on the fins are wrong, there's no stamp on the back, and it looks too thin. Here's a real one, # 92268, top three photos:

ETA - adding pics 4 and 5 of the fake Koi from seller OLDNEW123
