Thank you and be safe!

I read and bookmarked the Salearea Coach Guides for potential future use. I probably overthought about the Creed's time period because the serial number format made me assume that it was from the initial New York factories, but the subtext did not say "Made in New York City". Thank you again!
Actually, you (and the seller) misread the serial number because although the seller stated it as "048-9790," it's actually J4B-9790 and it's a 1994 city bag.

Here's the creed:

Hi there! Can anyone please confirm authenticity of this bag? The creed inside is J8H 9993. I believe it's a shopper from the 90s? Photos are from a sellers listing. I do not have the bag in hand to do measurements. Thank you!!
We always need to see an actual PHOTO of the creed and serial number, and also the URL of the seller's listing. Please read the instructions for authentication requests at the top of each page.

But since it's late, I'll save you the trouble. If that's the actual serial number inside the bag, it's fake.
My apologies for getting the formatting incorrect. Here is the link and a photo of the creed. It's a shame that it's fake. The seller insists on its authenticity:sad:

Refer the seller here if necessary. If you bought it, you deserve a refund.

Genuine, from 1997. And it's actually not quite "Style 9011 (the reverse design of Janice’s Legacy— Style 9950)" as the seller claims, nor is it from the Berkeley line since the style number 4951 is stamped VERY clearly on the creed patch which makes it a Legacy Zip Nubuc from the Sonoma line. And that and the construction details make it the Nubuc version of the Legacy Zip.

As we've said many times, never expect sellers to know the actual name, date or history of the item they're selling. Or in this case, even the style number.
Thank you.

@Hyacinth advised against depending on a seller to know the correct style name, age or history.

My warning is to beware that although a seller may have a genuine item, it doesn't mean that all her items are authentic.

lulu283 is a mixer.

This listing (at $117!) from lulu283 is fake:
Thank you. I have purchased Coach bags dating back to the 1980s, and have been getting into vintage recently, but I am certainly no expert so I appreciate the expert opinions on items that look questionable. I remember a coworker bragging about going to NYC in the late 1990s and getting fake Coach purses and although I didn't say anything (she was my Supervisor), I was shocked as she appeared she should have known better. I used to work with US Customs as an Auditor (now known as Homeland Security)and I knew decades ago fakes wasn’t a pretty business. Slave labor and children almost always involved In manufacturing the fakes.

Thank you. She did refund me, although she was pretty grumpy about me doubting the authenticity. She told me she called a number to authenticate it this morning and gave me the number. I called it 7 times and every time I got the "this number is out of service" message. So somewhere something fishy was going on. Thanks for everyone's help!!

Calling Coach and reciting a serial number is not a valid way to authenticate an item.

Ah yes I found that out too, I called them and they told me they couldn't do it. The number she gave me was pulled from a website claiming to be able to validate vintage bags. I think she google searched and copied the number without actually taking the step to see if it was in service or not, then just told me it was authentic hoping her word would be enough. I wasn't playing that is morning and def called the number, called Coach and used the chat feature with coach too. Hey u can never be too sure lol. The number she used was 904-741-3090 it pulls back to Coach at one point but it's out of service now. Idk. I was very confused this morning but it appears the right choice was made in requesting a refund. Thank you!

just so I can kind of learn if it's not too much to ask? In the serial number the 9993 is correct but it's the second and third digit that's wrong? It should be a 6D and not an 8H? D for made in US and6 for made in 1996? And u can tell it's fake by the H (not sure where that's referencing to it being made) and the 8 bc they weren't made in 1998? Or am I completely off base here? I don't mean to ask too much or waste anyone's time I'm just genuinely curious. Thank you!!!

Not an expert here, but that creed looks like it's raised up rather than indented into the leather. Very strange. The bag looks inferior.

The creed is puffy and the spacing is raised but the imprints ARE pressed into the leather (or leather-like material). Sometimes, depending on lighting, there can be the optical illusion that the writing is raised.

I would appreciate any assistance in authenticating these two

Remember to include seller ID:
1. Poshmark seller auntietam1 - It seems okay. I can't read the creed too well. (Other opinions are welcome.)
2. Ebay seller new2you77 - fake
