IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Assuming that you've posted your own pictures of the actual bag you received, I believe that the bag in the pictures is authentic.

But with that said, I'm not pleased with yardkings's listings or explanation of the source of items.

Most (if not all) of the listings show only stock photos and no pictures of the actual items. Not only is it infringement of intellectual property of the rights owners (companies whose pictures yardkings stole) but it doesn't let YOU as the buyer know exactly what you're going to receive. As a buyer, you want to see the actual item because too many listings show Coach stock images but the sellers ship fakes.

More concerning about the seller is his explanation of how he acquires his inventory. IMO, it screams either "hot" or fake. (Again, I don't believe the bag is fake but just expressing an opinion on the sourcing.)

Other opinions are welcome.
Thank you so much! And I get what you mean. I will be careful next time!

And there's a LOT more there, it's spread out in multiple paragraphs and even in more than one Guide. Just a small part:

"At first all Coaches were made in the original factory in New York City, and the early creeds say "Made in New York City, U.S.A." on the bottom. When Coach began adding new plants in the late 1980s, the wording at the bottom of the creed was changed starting in 1988 to "Made In The United States". Production at the NYC plant was eventually stopped so that the building could be used as Coach's corporate Headquarters. All this happened shortly after the owners who had built up Coach as a handbag and fine leatherware maker sold the company to Sara Lee in 1985. New plants were quickly added including one in Puerto Rico which was still considered a U.S. plant. Coach opened retail locations in Japan and other countries and opened their first outlet stores starting around 1990.

"Then in 1991 Coach began producing several lines of pebbled leather bags in Italy. The early line called Dakota Classics had a creed patch and statement unique to that style bag, but no serial numbers at all. Then came the Sheridan line which was made in Italy, the US and also Costa Rica, some with, and some without, serial numbers. The country the bag was made in was still noted on the bottom line of the creed, which on these bags was now a separate stamped leather patch sewn onto the lining or right onto the inside back pocket..."

and much more. It takes more than one reading to even begin to absorb what's in the Guides and how it all goes together.
Got it! There are much more things need to learn! Thank you for your clarification!

Hi @BeenBurned, I see you reply me in the salearea guide threads about the scrambled prefixes. Could you help me authenticate this Sheridan purse before I purchase it? I want to buy it for a while, because of its scrambled prefixes, I thought it's fake...But now I'm not sure about it.

It's fake.

Thank you. I had a feeling. The serial number looked strange.
That's an interesting creed!

Anytime you see an "all letters" prefix, you can be sure it's fake. But this creed also has "No" inverted so the prefix appears to be "oNNJD"! (I don't think I've ever seen that before!)

Here's a picture for those who like collecting oddities.

My next question is, do I inform the seller or Craigslis, or leave it be?
You can flag as "prohibited" as well as letting the seller know. But it's unlikely that the seller will do much other than telling you to MYOB (at best) or F yourself (at worst)!

I would let the seller know. It's not as if she knows who you are nor can she report you!
