Hello there, Would you please authenticate these 2 portfolio Clutch bags? From an estate sale. Are they from the same time period? Also is the brown one BT or Mahogany you think? Is the tan one putty? They both measure about 13" x 9" Thanks

Both are fine, and both from around the same time. It looks like slim clutch large 9555, probably from the early 80s. It's very hard to tell color from photos. The brown one looks closer to BT than mahogany.

I was fascinated by all pouch talk a few weeks ago! Then I came across a few catalog listings while looking for something else. The Fall 1990 catalog lists the Cosmetic Cases 7166 and 7167 as new styles.

Hi Authenticators! Kindly verify below:

Comments: What kind of brown is this? Not sure why it's not showing the same purse or photo on the URL...
THank you!
The bag is authentic.

In answer to your question about the different listing coming up, that happens (sometimes) after the listing in question has ended. Ebay decides to show you an active listing for what they consider to be a similar item.

That's why we like to have the seller ID and item number in requests. It helps us know that we're looking at the correct listing.

One more thing @BeenBurned... is it the same bag as this? The style number in the listing don’t seem to match the one on the catalog. Are they entirely different styles?

It could be tabac. It doesn't look dark enough to be mahogany.

I don't know whether this link will redirect to another listing but this is the listing you asked about:

The serial number on the bag you purchased doesn't show the style number. It's a pre-1994 bag so the serial number is a random number, unrelated to the style.

Although the measurements differ slightly, it does look to be the same style as the catalog picture.

ETA: sniped by @whateve
