Thank you for your expertise! I was told this color may not have been available in this style of Sonoma bag in 1997 (only red and brown) so there has been great debate. I appreciate your help.

Sonoma colors changed by the season as well as by the year. Back in the 1990s, Coach also used to make an unadvertised Resort and Cruise collection that was never in the catalogs and that was available right after the Christmas holidays thru early Spring, it was also available at some of the more popular resorts and cruise ports. This could be one of the resort colors since it was made in February. Periwinkle was also available as a regular Summer 1997 color. And according to the 1997 catalogs I have, Coach had at least 5 colors listed as available every season in 1997, not just red and brown (actually Tomato and Chocolate). I don't know where that information is coming from, but it's wrong.

Not all the colors were listed in the catalogs, especially if availability was limited or they were left over from the previous season. Don't depend on the catalogs to show every item and every option.

Here are 2 Sonoma pages from the Summer 1997 catalog that include your bag in Periwinkle, click on the thumbnail and the small box outline with the diagonal arrow through it to open and enlarge:

I hope that settles the debate.

I want a black bucket bag - but one w outside pocket and suspect I need to go to the more ‘modern’ versions for that. Still USA though!
