Item: COACH Swingpack Black Pebbled Leather
Listing number: 284163051520
Seller and site: elizgran - Ebay
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-est-...051520?hash=item4229701000:g:A5kAAOSwiUBgEa03
Comments: No creed, what is OK in swingpacks, but in the past I have seen the back side zipper on fakes, not familiar with this.
It looks good. I think it was probably part of a Chelsea collection, probably from the mid 2000s. The scarf looks good too, what I can see of it.

Hello All!
can you please authenticate this recent purchase of mine?

FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
Item:Black duffle bucket bag

Comments: only a couple of pics provided by seller and i had trouble seeing the creed. Not sure of its size either; thanks a bunch!
It appears authentic. I'm having trouble reading the creed too. I think it is probably a Helen's Legacy 9953.

Hi
Both are fine.
Hi BeenBurned, I just received the first one. And there are two things that make me skeptical. I've read an article that says if the stitching is uneven and the leather overlaps in a funky way then It's possible to be counterfeit. I attach the article here: http://posh-ky.blogspot.com/2018/01/how-to-tell-if-coach-bag-is-authentic.html

And the leather quality on the female side of the flap is a little different, I think it supposed to be soft as it's furry. But this one,I barely see the fur.

I don't mean any offense or questioning your professional ability. I just want to have a discussion with you as I'm a new coach vintage lover and there are many things that I need to know and learn.

These details didn't show up in the original list, so I take these pictures myself. Could you help me double-check?

Thank you in advance.

The bag is an authentic station bag made in 1996.

As for Poshmark seller rivergirl35 whose guide claims that overlapped trim = fake, she's mistaken. (Aren't I being nice? I'd rather use a stronger adjective describing her and her guide, but I'm restraining myself.)

On EVERY bag with trim, there will be overlapping as that's the only way to finish an item without having an opening and untrimmed section if the ends don't meet.

There's other misinformation in that guide as well as a reference to another guide (previously discussed here) by another guide authentic. That other guide has a boatload of misinformation also!

Most "authenticity guides" are incomplete, obsolete, copied from other inaccurate guides or are just wrong.

The guides we recommend you read and trust are authored by @Hyacinth (another Coach authenticator) and are part of a collection of guides Salearea has posted on his website. Those guides are accurate and updated.

There's nothing wrong with the bag you posted.

ETA: This is a listing that the "expert guide writer, rivergirl35" sold. Methinks someone isn't quite as adept at authenticating as someone thinks she is.

Comments:
1. Creed and serial number look odd.
2. Has it been confirmed whether R is also a US plant. (I've owned Thailand R items.)
3. Logo on front of bag looks lower than on other (known) authentic bags.
4. Coach logo on creed looks squished

@amber1109

To back up what BeenBurned just posted:
You can also add that Poshmark blogger you referenced to any list of "bad places or posters to get information from". And one poster/blogger that SHE recommends, a "Ms. Melissa Barnes" is just as undependable. Her picture files of "good" Coach creed patches and serial numbers include a serial number with a "K3H-" prefix and that serial prefix is always fake. I don't know how many other mistakes there are but please DON'T depend on internet "authenticity guides" where the writers imply that all you need to do is to check if the bag has the correct style number and that, they feel, proves it's genuine. NOTHING proves a Coach is genuine unless it has all the correct, exact details of a known genuine bag of the same exact style and made in the same plant, month and year. There aren't any short cuts.

We've talked so much about bad information in those "authenticity guides" that I'm thoroughly tired of talking about it, but I guarantee that I can find serious and potentially expensive mistakes that never should have been made and worse yet that have never been corrected by the original writer in any Coach authenticity guide you can find, with the exception of the Salearea Coach Guides posted here at tPF or any site or poster plagiarizing them - which, BTW have never been called authenticity guides because NOTHING in them claims to be some magic detail that can be used to prove that a Coach is authentic. Please do yourself a favor and don't waste your time reading or trying to use the advice or so-called proofs included in them. Read my Signature under every one of my posts. And read the Salearea Guides! Especially the one that exposes all the bad information and just plain lies in all those online "authenticity guides"

Fake, for all the above reasons. The Coach logo on the creed stamp isn't just squished, the Coach name is completely off-center inside the cartouche. The outside edge of the first C is almost a quarter-inch too far in.
