Comments: Is this one of the Italian exceptions to the N month code? Based on Hyacinth's swatches in the reference thread for Spring 96 Madisons, is this bag the garnet color? Thank you, experts! :flowers:
Yes, the N month code is seen often in Italian creeds. It is authentic. The color is probably garnet.

I sent a message to goodwill about the fake bag pointing out the problems with the creed. She misunderstood what I wrote.

I received the reply below. I then sent another message back, with photos of creeds from other bags as she told me to compare with others. I also pointed out a few other things wrong with the creed and how the measurements of the bag were not the same. Checked for a reply first thing this morning and bag is no longer in my open order list. Thanks everyone! :tpfrox:

"Thank you for including specific concerns in your message - knowing what has caused your reservations gives me a place to start. :)
I can certainly see why your authentication resources had reservations about the bag; if I had to rely on the photos alone I would be quite wary as well, not being able to clearly see the details I rely on when determining authenticity. However, having examined it in person, I do stand behind the initial assessment. The quirks you mentioned - a slight variation of the font, partial ‘framing’ around the style number, etc - are things I have seen many times in the past when examining Coach bags, vintage in particular.
If you search for "Coach 9804" on ebay, etsy, bonanza, etc. and compare, you'll see that several reliable sellers with excellent feedback have posted this bag style, with the same font used in the creed, the partial framing of the style number, etc. While it’s possible that all of them inadvertently sold counterfeits versions, it’s not likely.
Please let us know if you have further concerns - I’d be happy to look into them."

Hi - Not sure if you want to take this any further, but the creed pics that Goodwill rep is showing to compare are for "D" plant bags, and the bag they were selling looks like "B" plant...unless my eyes are deceiving me?

I got a reply to my second email and she said since the comparisons were from different plants, that would explain the difference in the creed.
But, since I mentioned the Purse Forum in my second email, she said she removed the bag from my cart because she highly respects their opinions.

I am going to try and find another B plant creed just to satisfy my curiosity. I know it needs to be same plant, same year to really compare.

Just wasn't comfortable going through with the purchase.
