I have the large tote. It is a Bonnie Cashin Coach bag. Not sure of the age.
Although the post you quoted was from 2014, I have a correction to the name you called the bag.

The collection was called "Cashin Carry" and the swingpack posted in that post was a canvas swingpack from the Cashin Carry collection.

The items were loosely inspired by BC but aren't actually "Bonnie Cashin Coach bags."

I understand. But she said she wasn't looking for an authentication, just identification, which indicated she wasn't aware that there was an ID thread, so I posted the link for her just to let her know the thread existed. It had nothing to do with the authenticity or identification of the bag in question. If my original comment indicated otherwise, it was a mistake on my part and unfortunately I cannot go back and edit it now.

No problem, I should have made my post to all members instead of quoting you specifically. The subject comes up once or twice a year and there are always new members who aren't aware of the authentication procederes like you long-term members are. My apologies for the confusion.

Greetings to Authenticators. Is this bag a faker? And if it’s genuine, how does one recognize if this is from 1994 or 2004? Thanks very much in advance.

You'll find a full explanation of Coach's production and year codes that are used in their serial numbers in 2 of the six Salearea Guides that are Pinned to the top of almost every Coach Shopping page under that name. It's a really good idea to read all six of the Guides, and you might also want to look through the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers List and the updates that follow it. In fact, read the entire thread to get an idea of the history behind the Guides. Anyone buying or selling Coach should learn how to read a Coach serial number.

The bag is a genuine Kensington Brief, and once you read the Guides YOU can tell ME what year it's from. Think of this as a pop quiz.

Aww, thanks for authenticating it as a real Kensington Brief. Now here's the gulp moment, uh oh, as I would hate to fail this pop quiz. "M4C-5279" means Manufactured in 1994 in US plant C. So if the bag were theoretically made in 2004, it should be M04C? But the M to me is confusing. If the month was designated by the first 12 letters, "M" is actually supposed to be a 13th month, which of course, does not exist. So was one letter skipped and "M" actually means December?

What I also find confusing (or concerning but I guess they're all acceptable) is that some vintage creeds have the "Coach" logo while others have "Coach leatherware". The other is having bags with "This is a Coach bag. It was handcrafted in the United States..", versus "Made in the United States" at the bottom of the creed, but I suppose they are both authentic as long as the serial numbers are legitimate.
