Hmm. The seller is a picture thief and although she clearly has a camera and knows how to use it (as evidenced by a bunch of her other listings), I'm not sure that any of the pictures in this listing are her own.

Of the 6 pictures in the listing, 3 were stolen from this Poshmark listing:
https://poshmark.com/listing/Coach-Rare-Vintage-Maggie-Mustard-Bag-KVD9019-5dfebd55e974fbd728b9d0dc

And she wasn't the buyer of the Poshmark listing as it isn't the same bag.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend lina4868 but if you want the bag, I'd ask the seller for her own pictures of the bag and the creed, in this case, possibly requesting a piece of paper with her ebay ID name on it.

Style 9019 is highly faked and you want to be sure that the bag you're seeing is the bag you're going to get.

Thank you! No, I think I will pass although I love the color. I notice the Poshmark listing showcases some minor flaws on the handle the seller seems to be hiding, too. Not what I want to support as a buyer.

I'll add just a comment or two after seeing the name of the seller (who has been discussed here and in other forums because of similar pricing examples). "Rare" doesn't always mean "valuable". In some cases it just means that a style just didn't sell and Coach withdrew it from production. Maybe there were too many similar styles, or maybe something about a specific style turned out to be impractical or uncomfortable or some other issue that potential buyers couldn't deal with. For example, I don't have a lot of experience with backpacks but I'm wondering if that dowel might make the bag incomfortable to carry. Backpacks are supposed to be MORE comfortable than handbags, not less. That could be why that bag had to be marked down just to sell it, note the stamped "X" on the creed.

JMO.
Very nicely put. My search for the "perfect" dowel style continues...

Hi everyone! New here. Can anyone tell me if this coach bag is authentic? It's in my possession, not listed anywhere. I see that the leather is not all dyed on the interior (there is some white area near crease) so I'm assuming it's not real.

The multiple proofs that it's fake have nothing to do with the white marks along the seams. Heavy leathers like the thicker full-grain kinds used in genuine Coaches and some fakes were shaved down in those seam areas to make them easier to sew.

Yours has much bigger problems. The "solid brass" buckle is fake, the creed stamping is so bad and blurry that it's almost unreadable, the serial number font, method of stamping it, and the creed wording don't match the plant and date codes. Not only doesn't the style number match the bag style, but the leather itself is showing the parallel "elephant skin" stretch marks that almost always indicate a fake when they're in areas of the bag that they shouldn't be in.

Where did you get it, and how long ago?

ETA - this is what a GENUINE "F4D-" serial number prefix and creed stamp for a classic leather bag made in the D plant in 1994 should look like:

and this is what a style number 9954 Prairie Bag should look like:

Thank you so much for the thorough explanation! I picked it up at Goodwill the other day. I'm actually an Ebay seller and picked up a couple of "coach" bags but it's important to me to not sell fakes so I when I found this forum I thought it'd be a good place to start. I'll just add this to my own closet and use it when I need a bag...could I throw another post up with a few more bags I've gotten there...I'm going to assume they are all fake but I don't know. I also don't know if you guys are ok with an Ebay seller being here so wanna make sure this is cool. I'd rather post here than sell a fake.

You should take it back to Goodwill and get your money back, it's against Federal law for anyone in the US including non-profits to sell counterfeit merchandise. GW doesn't have a strong track record when it comes to fakes, and they sometimes use one or more paid authentication services whose track record for Coach products is just plain BAD.

I'd also suggest that you have the other "Coaches" you bought authenticated here before you list them.

We have absolutely no problems with Ebay sellers authenticating their items here, as long as they don't post links directly back to any of their own active listings. That's considered "advertising" and is against the rules. Many of our members and regular posters sell on Ebay and other auction and selling sites. We'd much rather authenticate items before they're listed or sold than to have a buyer get stuck with a fake or a seller get put on restriction or suspension by Ebay for listing one.

Note the photos I posted for comparison, if Goodwill gives you any trouble about a refund.
