For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

It's genuine, late 1980s.

It might be Burgundy. As I've mentioned before, I don't don't like guessing colors especially since we can't pin down an exact year and season when it was made. I don't remember Bordeaux being a late 1980s color but I could be wrong.
Someone posted a 1992 catalogue page with a Bordeaux Chester, but that's all I know.
Thanks so much!

It doesn't worry me if the top handle isn't quite as flared in the center as we've seen on other examples. Details like that, and turnlock backs and other "sometimes fake" indicators shouldn't be used as proof that something's fake. The most important authenticating detail is almost always the creed and serial number stamping, and this one looks good.

Many thanks, Hyacinth! I really appreciate that you're willing to share your knowledge with us!

Hi, I just had a horrible 3am realisation about the Patricia's Legacy 9951 I'd just purchased and I would appreciate if my bag can be authenticated. The creed reads K7S 9951.

Comments: The base of the bag is different from most listings I've seen online i.e. it's supposed to be one seam in the middle and not 2 seams on the side. I believe the zips are supposed to have YKK stamped at the side but mine doesn't. Also the in pic 2 the suede lining under the flap looks shoddy and ends in this weird manner. I don't know why I didn't notice it when I first got it but there you go.

If you bought it online we need the URL for the liesting. It's fake, that base would never be on the genuine version. And the "S" plant code was ONLY used in travel and business bags made in China starting in 1995.

And NO, having a zipper stamped YKK doesn't prove DIDDLY-SQUAT. That's the oldest and most dangerous and useless fake "rule" in the book and if I ever find the idiot who started that BS fifteen or twenty years ago, I'll stake her or him down on an ant hill and pour honey all over them. Have you read the Signature at the bottom of every one of my posts? And there's an entire section of the six Salearea Coach Guides posted here on that specific subject, please read the six Guides before you go any further:

Authenticate Coach items here before buying. And post the listing and seller information as required in the READ ME post at the top of every page. If we know where you bought it and from whom, we MAY be able to help you get your money back.

Thank you so very much for the quick response and gosh I'm quite upset by this. Also apologies here's the link: https://www.etsy.com/sg-en/listing/...r?show_sold_out_detail=1&ref=anchored_listing (ETA: please ignore my glowing review. I'll be revising that in due course)

And noooo I've only just read your entire signature. Sigh. Duly noted duly noted. I'll never speak of the blasted zips again.

Can I also please request for an authentication of BagsBabylon's Etsy listing for the Patricia's Legacy? I hope there's at least one real #9170 in my favourites list so I can put this fake one behind me ):

Hi all, may I please trouble you to authenticate the following:

Item: Coach Carnival Bag 9925 sold by coachcrossing on Etsy
Link: https://www.etsy.com/sg-en/listing/...f=sr_gallery-1-2&organic_search_click=1&cns=1
Comments: The detail at the clasp looks different from what I saw on a catalog. Also the creed looks a bit off to me. I'm still quite new to vintage Coach though so these are just a few areas I thought looked a bit off.

Before buying from , you should check the history. A seller's history is one of the reasons why we want seller IDs in authentication requests and in Hall of Shame posts.

Hi BeenBurned, thanks for the link. That's one business crossed off my list. I used to rely on the Etsy reviews/ratings to judge a seller but I'm definitely going to be extra cautious before proceeding with my purchases. I'd be seeking a few more authentications here once my other purchases arrive. Fingers crossed real tight.

Just got this in the mail. Can I get a confirmation of authenticity please?

I don't see any problems but among all of us, I'd guess you are the #1 expert in those bags! If you're comfortable with it even after having it in your hands, I'm fine with that.

Lol! I came to advise you not to leave feedback until after authenticity of your purchase is confirmed. But I see that you plan to revise it. (Good thing; that's something that can't be done on ebay if you want to downgrade feedbackj.)

Please remember that seller IDs are required. It's helpful in searching for sellers who have histories here, either good or bad. I hope crazygoodbananas is agreeable to a refund.

The listing from BagsBabylon is fine.

Happy Saturday! Well, my local thrift store is reopened and I masked up and am shopping. Can you please authenticate for me? Thanks so much!
item: pocket purse
Seller: Valley Thrift Store

It's authentic.

I'm curious. Did you feel safe? Did they have sanitizer dispensers around the store? Were there a lot of people shopping? Was it easy enough to keep distance?

While I miss shopping terribly, I'm not sure I'm comfortable going back too soon.

The listing from BagsBabylon is fine.
It's not a Patricia's Legacy. It's a classic pouch, also called a classic shoulder bag.
