It's authentic but searching the last 4 digits wouldn't have helped because it's a pre-1994 random serial number.
Ah! Okay, I see. I wonder what kind it of bag it is. (Now I'm tempted to go back and get it, haha)

I ended up taking a chance and purchasing another bag instead, but I wanted to wait until I got home so I could take measurements. Hopefully I didn't pick the wrong one!

And I'm back. Okay, here's the bag I did buy. Also from value world. This one I did also try to look up the serial while I was in there (still learning!) and I came up with the 1995 Lulu's legacy bag? Any input appreciated!

Would someone be willing to take a look at this? Saw it at a value world and was curious-- but not curious enough to purchase. I did try to search the last four digits while I was in the store, but no luck.

I did my best with the pictures what with the bag being attached to the rack, but I understand if they aren't sufficient.
Thank you for your time!

It's a Brighton Bag style #9895. Here's a 1991 catalog shot:

Oh, nice! Thank you so much. Phew, I'm glad that even if I passed on the one I wasn't sure about, I made an okay choice.

Great choice, that's the one I would have picked if I had to choose!

Thank you all for your help! I thought it looked suspect, but truly appreciate your confirmation and expertise! Have a good evening!!
@nefariousmuze

Since you considered the bag suspect anyway, I assume you let the seller know why you aren't purchasing. Have you also let him know that he still has it listed on at least 2 sites and even though those sites may not be as diligent as others in responding to reports of fakes, both sites still have policies that claim to abide by US federal trademark law disallowing the sale of fakes.

I would have expected that an honest seller would end listings once it was determined that an item is illegal to sell!

Thank you!
I'm glad you bought this one -- I was hoping you would snag it when I saw it in the background of your initial auth request!
