Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if this Coach backpack is authentic? I've read that Coach bags always have YKK zippers, but all the 4922 style backpacks I've found online have also had zippers that say Coach (though it's possible that those are fake).

Hi everyone,

Wherever you found or read or heard that"Coach bags always have YKK zippers" is COMPLETELY WRONG. Never never NEVER judge a Coach's authenticity by the brand of zipper it has! Coach has used at least 6 or 8 different brands of zipper, and tens, maybe hundreds of thoiusands of fakes use zippers stamped YKK too. Any other information you heard or read from the same sources as the YKK Zipper Lie should also be conmpletely ignored.

Before you go any further, make a mental note to ignore anything that calls itself an "Authenticity Guide", there are no one or two details that can ever prove a Coach is genuine. What proves it's genuine is when every detail of construction, hardware, and the creed stamp and serial number are exactly correct and match every known known genuine example of the exact same style bag with the same style number and both made in the same plant, year, and preferably month too. And read the Salearea Coach Guides posted here at tPF and pinned to the top of every Coach Shopping forum index page. Start here and read the entire thread including the Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers list. THESE guides are accurate and up to date and don't include lies and nonsense that were proven wrong 10 or 15 years ago.

The backpack is a genuine Sonoma Sling Natural Grain made in 1996.

Thanks for all the information!

Good day ladies
My apologies for posting on coach forum but can you tell me where to address a request to authenticate a bag not listed. I am trying to authenticate and date a Ganson bag I found in a thrift store.
Again my apologies for posting here and thanks if you can point me in the right direction.

I didn't scroll through the whole list but if you don't find a thread for the brand, you can start a new topic with "Authenticate this Ganson" in the title.
