Okay so I was trying to update my original post, but for some reason I can't. So I'll update all of you here. I've come to the conclusion that this bag is unfortunately a fake!

There are many discrepancies with the bag, way too many to name them all, but for starters pretty much all of the details about the bag are wrong for the generation it claims to be. This is supposed to be a 1st gen, however the handles are smooth (should be pebbled), interior is yellow (should be black), hardware is gunmetal (should be gold), lock style is wrong, stitching around zippers wrong, zipper pulls are lacking the larger holes needed to accommodate the lock, trim is smooth (should all be pebbled), etc etc etc. In addition to just the generation discrepancies, the creed is way too soft making it hard to read the details inscribed, stamp on bottom of bag reads "genuine glovetanned leather" when it should say "genuine glovetanned PEBBLE leather", outside pocket interior seems to be a microfiber material when it should be suede - doesn't feel like suede... So it's safe to say, it's a counterfeit.

Now in regards to the trading on Facebook and what to do now... when I came to the conclusion that the bag was fake, I'd hoped that all parties involved could trade back basically starting over with the bags we all had initially. This would mean giving up my gorgeous fringe nomad that I've fallen so in love with, but what's fair is fair right? So I offered to trade back with the girl I sent it to first, she agreed. Then I spoke to the girl I got the bag from initially, but she said she still wasn't convinced it was fake and that trades are final after 24 hours (I'm pretty sure that rule is trumped by finding out the bag you got was fake).. so I was pretty much gonna be stuck with the fake when I had traded a nearly brand new Heather Grey Tea Rose Rogue for the black fake. But I still had to do what was right as far as the other girl was concerned though, so I planned to just take the loss. Before the authenticity was questioned she had traded it to someone else, got it back, and then posted it for sale. The admin from the group she had it posted in was the first person to question it's authenticity. Meanwhile while all of this was going on the girl who had it posted for sale actually had it sold to someone else pending payment. The sale was halted because of the authenticity. Well after discussing trading back with the girl I traded it to, she messaged me again and said the buyer still wants it even though she knew the authenticity was being questioned. The buyer insisted that she thought it was real and still wanted to buy it. ‍♀️ So long story short (sorry this is turning into a novel).... the bag is now in the possession of someone else yet again and is still floating around out there somewhere.

So I wanted to disclose all of this in case the buyer tries to resell it or trades it to another unfortunate unknowing person... and it winds up being posted on here again.

I definitely agree with you there! I thought it was a little safer since I knew the girl I had gotten it from for so many years now. I can safely say though, that she was innocent in all of this too. The bag had been traded to her from someone else years ago and she never even questioned its authenticity since it felt like such a good quality bag.

I wish I would've taken pics of the little white tag inside (I can't even remember if it had one) but the girl I traded it to has now sold it to someone else. (See my reply to my original post for the details) The buyer knew the authenticity was being questioned but she insisted she thought it was real and said she wanted it anyway. So now since it was originally in my possession, it's been in the hands of 3 other people. ‍♀️
I'm not sure I understand exactly what transpired in this whole series of trade but for the person who ended up with the bag and wants to keep it because she "insisted that she thought it was real and still wanted to buy it" tells me that she either also traded a fake or she just plans to fool the next person.

I understand that some people don't mind carrying fakes and believe that others won't know the difference. (Believe me, those who know the items, pick up on who's carrying a fake.)

And I sure hope she's not dishonest and doesn't try to unload it on someone else!

In response to your first post about there being too many anomylies for the bag to be authentic, i just want to comment that whoever claimed it was 1st generation may have been wrong and the handles, lining, lock, etc. may have been right for whatever generation it actually might be.

Without a picture of the white tag with the production info, I can't say for sure that it's fake although I'm certainly not comfortable wiht the "pebbled" leather bag that's stamped as "glovetanned." I would have liked to have been able to confirm authenticity one way or the other with ALL the necessary pictures.

I am bothered that the current owner isn't willing to find out whether it's fake or not. I would have expected she'd want to know just for her own peace of mind and to stay honest when the time came for her to get rid of it.

(Another thing: Keep in mind that most people aren't as anal as we have and often don't know the minute details we know from learning about here. How many station bags have we seen that are called "willis?" How many 2001 bags have we seen that were claimed to have been made in the 80s?) Having been described wrong doesn't necessarily make it fake..

Welcome to TPF. For future requests, please refer to post 1, page 1 of the thread for the information we need.

Seller klim2000us

The wallet you will receive will likely be authentic but I have a problem with the seller and his/her use of pictures belonging to others. Most of the pictures in every listing are stolen stock images or pictures found online. Listings with actual pictures show the items in wrappings, presumably because klim2000us didn't want to open and unwrap the items but with highly faked brands (including the many sunglasses listed), it's important for buyers and authenticators to see the actual items.

This seller probably shopped and bought multiples at the outlet and has multiples in each listing.

If you already bought it, you can post pictures once you receive it if you have concerns.

If you haven't yet purchased, request that the seller open one of the packages and take pictures of the actual item, inside and out. You can come back and post those pictures.

Note that even listings that look like she may have used her own pictures show stolen images.

Good morning, kind enablers...er...authenticators. Wondering about this bag:

Seller has been very responsive to my questions. Looking to verify authenticity here. Glue-in registration numbers appear to be very late 70s into early 80s (did my research here). Figuring with those dates that the color may be Mocha. I know---can't guarantee from photos (I can't distinguish subtle differences in person so, I get it). Thanks in advance. Off for coffee....

The bag is authentic but the seller has a habit (knowingly or not) of exaggerating the age of items, calling some older items "Bonnie Cashin era" when they're from long after BC's era or "vintage" for items as recent as 2006.

There's also a history of not verifying authenticity. (I don't think it's intentional but still.....)
