I’ve attached a few more photos- it’s nearly impossible to get a good one of the creed. The pebble surface combined with the shininess of the finish just doesn’t equate to good photos. I see what you mean about that second C, although it does seem to be a C in person. The A in Coach seems to be embossed a little deeper than the other letters too. As far as the style tag goes, the N in No. is straight- the fabric of the tag is very slightly wrinkled at the seam, which is what’s making it look crooked. Like I said earlier, the leather just doesn’t feel right, but maybe it’s just the style. I’ve got a market tote that should have been made around the same time as this bag, and the market tote leather feels much thinner and more supple (that bag is unlined though) than this turnlock tote.

These pictures are much better.

I believe the bag is authentic but there seem to be some quality issues and if I'd bought the bag, I would return it unless those issues were disclosed.

I was aware of the handle damage, but am disappointed overall. On the other hand I have all of $27 bucks invested in this bag, so it’s really not worth the hassle of complaining. I figure I’ve just made a donation to Goodwill. :-s Thanks for your help and quick response though!!

If I could make a small correction?

The Dakota bags from 1991-92 didn't have any linings, the pigskin suede was only used for the inside pocket and the rest of the bag was unlined.

The slightly later Sheridans had a full fabric lining.

As for the buckle, there are half a dozen posts here on the subject including the stamped "solid brass" buckles on my own Dakotas from 1991 or 1992:

Thanks Hyacinth for your input. This is my first Dakota and was not familiar with the style. So now I learned about the material used for the pocket. Great to know.
About the solid brass you are correct, there are dozens (25 pages to be exact) of solid brass posts when I did the search, I missed your post that very clear explains it. And of course last night I found the info on my notes, (that I should organize better).

I am very happy now that my purse is the way is supposed to be, thank you everyone!

Kindly authenticate - this is in my possession:
Coach Mini Belt Bag 5" x 4 3/4" x 1 1/2".
NOTE: My sister gave me this sweet little bag for Christmas.
She bought it at a used clothing store in the 1990's,. Would appreciate it if you could let me know if it's authentic. Thanks as always!

PS Also - can you guesstimate the year? For what it's worth, the hang tag is one-sided and has Leatherware stamped under Coach.

It's authentic, style 9826.

For an estimate of value, check Ebay sold listings to see what "Coach 9826" sold for.

Thank you so much BeenBurned! This will be a keeper for awhile!
BTW - can you guesstimate the year? For what it's worth, the hang tag is one-sided and has Leatherware stamped under Coach. Looks like it first appeared in was the 1990 Winter Preview catalog.

Bags with the xxxx-xxx serial number format were made around 1990-1993, with some exceptions.
