Hi, everyone! Happy holidays!

My friend sent me a vintage Coach as a gift. She purchased it at a consignment store. I’m curious to know if it is authentic and what the style name is! 7538663E-B3AE-4900-98B2-F8CE5821B1CF.jpegF3856894-9E07-48D3-AAA1-101C1FCC65C9.jpeg9F5ED165-283D-4973-B707-50F80E26EC71.jpeg3DFE4553-91CB-406F-87BF-63F69B682C44.jpegF83FDCDF-1DDB-4209-A3C8-35F1B9D3D117.jpegA8D11D59-05E8-45EB-AC54-B9BCC09B39E0.jpeg

10.5” wide, 11” tall, base is 4” deep. I cranked up the contrast on the creed to make it legible, but please let me know if I need to take better pictures. Thank you so much for your help!

Hello! I would appreciate your help to authenticate this Taft bag. Thank you in advance!

Item: Taft
Seller: STLeatherRestoration (on Etsy)
Link: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/761...-bag-olive-green?ref=shop_home_active_1&cns=1
Comments: I know that the seller states that she has gotten help from the Coach Purse Forum to rehab the bags she finds (so my apologies if she sees my post!) but given that I have read on this Forum about how many Taft fakes there are, I did not want to take any chances!
It's a good idea to verify authenticity of ANY item you aren't sure of. (And a seller shouldn't be offended, but in fact should appreciate that she has a buyer who does her homework.)

The bag is authentic and made in 2002 so it's not vintage yet. (Although etsy rules require that items be vintage (or handmade), not all items claiming to be vintage are.)

Thank you very much, BeenBurned, for your quick answer!
I have been following the Coach forum from afar for a long time and have only recently became intrigued by the older styles. It is super helpful to have this community to reach out to.
Happy Holidays to you and to all the helpful people on this forum!

They actually aren't even brass. The grommet holes are now obvious to me, as the backs look very cheap.View attachment 4619771

It was my first vintage purchase. I've learned a good bit from my short stay here on the quality difference of coach genuine vs fake but still have a ways to go, and I have a LOT to learn about the vintage stuff.

I started with "Contact the seller" and left a message citing the reasons you did identifying that it is counterfeit. I'll have to look in more depth in the morning about return policies. A brief google search was not encouraging in the least so I'm glad to hear from you folks that I still have an out. I'm actually hoping they let me keep it so my first rehab test run isn't on an authentic coach. From what GW's policy states, supposedly they destroy fakes but I wouldn't be surprised if they want it back to resell it. Thanks again for the replies and patience with this "newbie" prospector. I'm still learning!

I got a vintage bag from the shopgoodwill site, which I found to be fake through the authenticators here. Goodwill was actually very quick and responsive (surprisingly) and they paid for the return shipping, after I explained it was a counterfeit item. They told me that they were going to run it by another authentication group and if they also found it to be fake, they would refund me but if they didn’t, they would mail the bag back to me. I included with the package a list of things that pointed it out to be fake just in case, similar to what you did when you messaged the seller. In the end, they did deem it to be fake and I was refunded really quickly. Hopefully they will do the same for you!

I can't remember if I ever got this bag checked out but I tried listing and Mercari just told me their 3rd party authentication team was unable to verify my item and removed my listing. Can you ladies take a look just to confirm?

Good day authenticators,
Item Name: Skinny Tote (I believe it is a Skinny Tote)

Link: No link; it is in my possession

Dimensions: approx. vintage coach tote - 1.jpg vintage coach tote - 1 (1).jpg vintage coach tote - 2 (1).jpg 13 1/2” x 11”

Comments: I am intrigued by this creed. I noticed in previous threads that there were other bags that had a similar format. Please let me know if you need additional photos and thanks in advance.

Am I correct in thinking this is not authentic...as it has a Y month code?

comments...still learning so hope Ive learnt that much at least.

You're correct. Also, look at the second-to-last photo, the color of the strap and strap mounting tab on at least one side doesn't maych the rest of the bag. The underside of the turnlock plate has indentations for the prongs and it shouldn't.
